Advertising Online Compared To What We Do, Online Marketing

Many people get confused with the differences between Advertising Online and Online Marketing and after having discussions about this topic on several occasions the conclusion is most believe them to be closely related or one in the same. I will try to shed some light on these completely different methods of "Getting The Word Out" about a particular product or business using The Bow and Arrow as an analogy.

Advertising is basically delivering a message by just shooting the message out to whom ever and hoping someone will see it and buy the product or service. This is like taking your basic bow and arrow and shooting it into the air and hoping it might hit the desired target, possibly a very expensive way of delivery because no one knows how many arrows it is going to take to accomplish the end result. "bullseye" I mean sale.

With Online or Internet Marketing a message is sent directly to the people in a predetermined target market ,people wanting what your selling. Just like a Bow and Arrow used in the field where a direct hit is what is desired. For this to be accomplished the proper equipment must be used. The bow is like the marketing system, it must be stable and of good quality. The arrow is the projectile delivered from the bow to the target without this the bow is useless. The marketing system without a means of delivering the message will also be deemed the same. The sight which focuses the arrow to the target with precision is like the fine tuning required in online marketing to deliver the message to precisely the right audience at the right time.

To find the right bow research must be done and questions asked. The same is true with finding the right online marketing system. Just as an archer wouldn't go into the field with just one arrow ,make sure the marketing system has many ways of sending the message. Finally, when focusing in the sight for accuracy repetition is needed and small adjustments made. An online marketer will fine tune marketing strategies through small adjustments until the end result is consistent leads to sales for maximum ROI and profits.

Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Everyone, 2009 is a new year and I'd like to create a new forum category to jazz things up! In the past, there's been some interest voiced about adding a "Social Media Marketing", "Online Marketing", "Internet Marketing" or "Online Promotion" category. I'll implement [u:1g2tv6tf]ONE[/u:1g2tv6tf] of those new categories, but can someone first tell me what the difference would be between the existing "Marketing" section and one of those new options mentioned above? Thanks

Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - [quote:31qpen1j]This is just my opinion, but I consider the prospective categories, Online Marketing, Internet Marketing and Online Promotion, as being pretty much one and the same - just different words that different people use.[/quote:31qpen1j] I completely agree! Those are all just "internet marketing" as far as I am concerned. And I normally would have voted for internet marketing, however I chose social media marketing simply because there are more than enough IM forums out there already.

Moreover, it would probably be called "Online Marketing" instead of Social Media Marketing".[/quote:p78047w2] Okay - I have a request -- can the title be changed to "Online Marketing"? The reason I'm asking is because people may not know what social media marketing is , while that would make me vote for it to learn more, but not every thinks like that. Also, online marketing could capture more attention when people spot in on the list. Shri
