Written by: Daniel Herzner

Article Overview: There is a habit which all successful entrepreneurs use daily. It's a habit so powerful that without it, small success will never grow into larger ones. If the vision of your life includes becoming successful in a business of your own, then start practicing this habit today and learn to practice it every day from now on.

A Life Of Success And Fulfillment Starts With Appreciation

If you want to learn how to succeed in life, then there's a habit you need to develop starting today. And note I said "habit" which means you'll need to put it into practice every day. This important habit is something you'd also want to use if you wish to learn how to succeed in business too. This habit can be best illustrated with a story...

Let's say that you've decided to start a home based business. As anybody who has ever tried would know, starting a home business is never an easy thing to do. Getting a business up off the ground requires lots of time, energy, money and focus. There may be long periods of time where you'll be putting everything you've got into your business with very little, if anything, to show for it.

Eventually, however, the fruits of your labor will begin to show. Maybe a small sale is made or you get a phone call from a good, potential client. Whatever it might be, something happens which can be recognized as a positive step in the right direction.

What you need to do is celebrate and really appreciate all of the results which materialize regardless of how small or insignificant they may seem.

To the person who is inexperienced in how to start and grow a business, it's easy to become disappointed over small, initial results. By nature, human beings are impatient. We want things to happen and we want them to happen right now.

But remember this; the big results you want can only be born of the small, initial results. Or, to say it another way, you have to learn to walk before you can run.

Look at a farmer for example. Farming has got to be one of the most physically demanding businesses in existence. Farmers put in a tremendous amount of effort gearing up to plant seeds early in their growing season. And, after the seeds are planted, there is a tremendous amount of effort which goes into nurturing the seeds. Finally, after a great deal of effort, seedlings begin to sprout.

Now, do you think a farmer is disappointed to see the seedlings - a small result - or is he happy to see them? You better believe the farmer is thrilled to see his crops begin to grow.

A farmer puts in tons effort to see those seedlings come up out of the ground but there is literally nothing he can do with them. He can't rip them out of the ground and sell them at that point to make his effort worthwhile. He has no choice but to continue with his long days of hard work in order to get the young plants to a point to where they will reward his hard work.

So what's the moral of this story? What can we learn from this example of the farmer? It can be summed up in a single word and it's also the habit mentioned earlier: appreciation.

Yes, you have got to learn to appreciate every triumph you experience in your business no matter how small it may seem. Every day get into the habit of recognizing at least one good thing to come about as a result of your efforts. Appreciation is crucial to the growth of your business. Because if you don't learn to appreciate the small stuff then chances are good you'll never see the big stuff.

So are you currently a member? And more importantly, have you tried to open a store front in that virtual world?
Re: Charge what you're worth Re: Charge what you're worth - [quote="Tami Szabo":292ze3jd]People will pay you what you ask. Very few will ever up the price. You are the one who decided what you are worth. The key is that we believe our services are worth the price we are asking.[/quote:292ze3jd] Hi Tami, You're absolutely right. In "Think and Grow Rich", Jessie B. Rittenhouse says "For Life is a just employer, He gives you what you ask, But once you have set the wages, Why, you must bear the task. I worked for a menial's hire Only to learn, dismayed , That any wage I had asked of Life, Life would have willingly paid" (Napoleon Hill 35). I think the same can be said when setting prices on eBay or Craigslist, especially when people are trying to haggle you.

He spends all his life having his hopes and dreams shattered, feeling miserable, and its only at the end of his life that he can look back and realize how many friends he has, etc. But that doesn't change the fact that up until that point he was miserable![/quote:1rxsgr0t] I love the sentimentality around watching that movie with your Mom! Chtistmas is made up of all those sentimental things. "It's A Wonderful Life" is all about perspective, much in the same way that Scrooge is 'realigned' in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" - which I listen to on CD every year (sometimes twice!) Happy Christmas Everyone! Regards Martin
