In late 1995, there were just 16 million global internet users. In June of 2009, there were 1.67 billion global internet users equaling almost 25% of the world’s entire population. The world’s population has become interconnected in a way never before seen with this unprecedented level of communication. The individual user now has direct access to everyone else on the net, from anywhere they plug in.

When looking for a home based business opportunity, this is important information to consider when looking at your business options. What are your options and how do they differ?

Option #1 - A work at home business.

Option #2 - A mobile home based business.

Option #1

A work at home business can take many forms. Craft businesses such as art or jewelry production can be very satisfying, but require inventory or tools and often times a specialized workspace. Other types businesses such as MLM companies selling kitchenware, cosmetics, baskets, retail jewelry, foods, etc. typically require you to purchase and maintain product examples and sometimes inventory to show at parties and make sales. Portions of these businesses can be operated online, but for the most part, when you not at-home, your business stops, for the moment.

Option #2

A mobile home business on the other hand, offers additional freedom. An online home business that allows you to market, sell, ship and recruit completely via the internet provides you with extra leverage because your business can make you money 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Internet based programs involving marketing of affiliate products, drop-ship products, and information or education products are examples of these mobile-type businesses. When you travel, your business can be run completely from a laptop, iPhone or other smartphone...no inventory required. This kind of leverage can be maximized whether you sell items worth $25 or $2500.

All of these ideas require a you to approach them as a real business to be successful and all of them require marketing in some form. If you are in the hunt for your own home based business to earn extra income from home, you owe it to yourself to consider the mobility of the internet to help you take your business to the next level.

One final consideration when settling on the business format that works for you...ask yourself; when you achieve the financial freedom you desire and want to continue to work your business with a flexible schedule, which type of business will let you travel the world or live in multiple locations and still allow you grow your business?

Free time to create and promote my own products (relies on #1) 3. 5% of all revenues generated by my team going to feed starving kids Now that is "feel good work".

Re: Two Useful Books To Help You Focus On The CLIENT - Hi David, To add to your thread, I'd like to recommend Jonathan Tisch's "Chocolates On The Pillow Aren't Enough: Reinventing The Customer Experience". Tisch's book includes content on "Welcoming Customers", "The New Art of Customization", "The Challenges of Customer Diversity" and "Offering Something Extra to Your Customers" to name a few.
Internet Marketing Conference on SLife - I've been trying to log in but it keeps crashing.. anyways.. a friend of mine in BC plans on holding Internet Marketing Conferences on SecondLife and have the same top internet marketers that would normally be in Live Internet Marketing conference speak. Income will be generated from admission charges, product sales during breaks, sponsor tables, etc etc.. Just to get the ideas flowing in your head that anything you can do in the real world can be replicated in SL. There is no planned date as of yet for this conference.
