Why You Are Who You Are

The main reason why you are who you are is YOU. No matter how you became who you are or gotten where you are, staying there is your own choice, your own decision. Leaders were not born successful; instead they set a goal for themselves accompanied by a course of action that is focused, consistant and enduring.

You could claim that you are the master of your own life and diligently shouldering your family responsibilities. However, you are  lagging in taking the next steps in moving yourselves, your aspirations, your carrier and your family to a comfort zone. How could you claim of being in charge financially, professionally, and socially when aspirations and basic enjoyment of life remains exclusively restricted to the fantasies of TV drama and shadowy darkness of dreams.

Comfort zone remains elusive if you still have to spend hours tormenting your head in choosing between good school and qualitative education for your children against affording your mortgage or a well deserved family vacation. You are who you are because you upgraded yourself to where you are and decide to halt your progress and suspend your aspiration as you assumed you have reached  your comfort zone.

However, take a pause and ask yourself if you are truly in a comfort zone? What would become of you and your family if that check stop coming in next week instead of your well planned 5yrs time? What would be sacrificed? Children dropping out of college or your family being kick out of their home?

Leaders, successful entrepreneurs, riches, presidents were not born but made. They were not robotically made neither, but made themselves to become who they are through their own conscious decision accompanied by consistently focused efforts. Only few people were lucky to be born with silver spoon whereas only a handful of them would be smart enough to keep it and pass it on. It's ironically sad that it's much easier to pass on poverty and limited opportunities across generation, like a woven neck chain, than cultivating mindsets for greater aspirations and opportunities.

Bill Gates did not create Microsoft by chance. His success typifies an outcome of a decision to extend, stretch and reach far above one's comfort zone. You are who you are because it's you alone that determine your benchmark on the ladder of success. The control over this decision should not be left to a third party. It should solely remain your decision.

Keep moving until you reach your comfort zone and rescued your aspirations and fantasies from the lonely pages of dusty diary to the comfort zone of reality where you could feel, live and enjoy them. Summon up courage and endeavor to challenge the difficulty of today to create and open up abundant opportunities for you and your offspring when tomorrow comes. You are who you are by your own choice.
