Handy Pointers For Those Looking To Work From Home

Guest post by: Carrie Langstroth

Article Overview: Let’s face it, freelancing and managing your business in the comfort of your own home makes you wonder why some folks would still opt for full time jobs. Although working on your own terms and at your own convenience seems like a cakewalk, there are a few pointers and ‘principles’ one could do with, if looking to tap the full scale productivity and monetary independence this road offers. And no, that does not include nodding groggily in front of your computer while you are on the phone with someone.

Handy Pointers For Those Looking To Work From Home

Whether you are a seasoned freelancer or just gingerly testing the waters to start your own small time business from home, here are some precious pearls of wisdom any self respecting and experienced independent businessman/ writer/ marketer would give you about time management:

The one 'con' that home based entrepreneurs experience, is listening to that little devil inside of us getting peskier by the minute and urging us to procrastinate. Don't give in. If you are exhausted or not feeling 'up to it', allow yourself a quick nap. Look to the internet, books or even music to get your creative juices flowing. Do some yoga, go for a quick walk, cook, whatever gets your brain to work; just do it.

The best thing to do in this case is ensure your desk or your private space is kept organized. A clutter free environment can work wonders to boost your work efficiency. Also handy would be having a door or just a screen to section you away from the rest of the house.

Never skip your meals. Also, when you start work, make sure you freshen up and become alert before you get on the job. We all know how productive we can get when we still have that morning breath, remain unshaved or couldn't be less bothered with the fact that we are still in our 'jammies'.

These are just some of the time management tips you could do with while choosing to remain professionally and financially independent. Working from your home is great, but it is even better when you treat your job just as you would any full time experience. This is a great opportunity for you to channel your best potential while answering to yourself only; don't misuse it!

Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? - HI, I have used trade shows (not participated) to collect potential clients. For example, the Home & Garden Industry is extremely behind the time in regards to their websites. I attended an Home & Garden Expo in Denver and collected all the companies contact information. I plan on cold calling & mailing information to each business. It also gave me time to research the industry more, talk directly to the owners in many cases, and learn more about what they need. Jeff
