How to Avoid Internet Marketing Mistakes That Cost Dearly

Internet marketing Internet marketing has gained a lot of popularity over the last decade or so because it has proven itself to be the one media most frequented by millions around the world at any given point of time. No other media can compare to the exposure that the internet affords. But marketing on the internet also means you are one of the many thousand potential competitors. To stay on top and visible, you need a marketing strategy that is going to boost your websites traffic and generate leads as well. There are some tried and tested internet marketing tools that can help you with simple things like making a good web plan to develop and promote your website, get yourself noticed on some of the major and most popular search engines. Tools or strategies like effective use of email marketing and getting noticed via newsletters, press releases and blogs, using your website to conduct contests and hand out freebees etc. are just some of the ways. But there are also some marketing bugbears or booboos that you need to avoid or it will cost you your wallet. If some people found the best strategies that boost internet marketing, then there are an equal number of “some” who found the “don’ts” of marketing and you need to educate yourself on these properly. The “don’ts” Avoid internet marketing mistakes that are going to cost you. Some of the most common mistakes are the ones that affect the business the most. Unplanned website - Planning your website is not just required, it’s very important. It requires constant upgradation, updating and maintaining. Lack of research - Do a keyword research and analyze what is your competition. Then, see if there are any lacunas in their websites which you can incorporate in yours which then gives you an edge over them. Navigational errors - See that your website is easy on the eye, easy to read, easy to navigate and works on the principle of “direct response messaging” which means your visitors should get the necessary encouragement to take some action too. Pay per Click marketing - Pay per click marketing generates good traffic but more often than not it does not translate in to a viable business option. Learn all you can about it before you venture in. Don’t ignore data collection - Ensure you get the visitors contact details. Relationship building is every essential for any business. Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Kevin, Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.

Re: Hi from a Manhattan coach Re: Hi from a Manhattan coach - Hi Julie, Welcome to the forum, it's great to have you here and thank you for telling us a little about yourself. You sound like a very enthusiastic person who likes what she does and in Internet Marketing that is very important and you also sound like a 'people person' which is great. Internet Marketing is time consuming and challenging but can also be extremely rewarding and hopefully profitable. I don't know how many forums you have signed up to but this is one of the best. The support and guidance you get here is what makes it the success that it is but as I am sure you know from looking at the side bar that there are many aspects of business that are catered for here which will help you along the way, best wishes, Mal.
