How to Start Thinking Like an Online Entrepreneur
They say “it’s the thought that counts” and “they” are right. To achieve anything in this world be it a business, a successful personal life, driving a car, painting, building, whatever; you have to believe that you can do it. It’s the thought that propels you to take some action and that’s how you get started.
When you start a small business it requires you to first start thinking like an entrepreneur. This is more so if you are an offline entrepreneur and you are now ready to take on cyber world. The thought process involved in running either is the same but the viewpoint and the challenges you face are poles apart.
So, how do you go about starting a business or expanding a business?
Going online
Online there are lots of options to make money if that is your aim. But, if your goal is to be an entrepreneur, you need to read and research. The challenges you face online are different. You have to be prepared to answer emails full of queries. Each queried email satisfactorily replied to will result in a prospective client. A disinterested or automated reply may lose you your client.
If you blog or publish articles and newsletters about your business, then ensure they carry a “contact me” link so interested people can put their query to you. Think how you would feel if you took the time effort and energy to contact someone only to find that to get to that “someone” you had to crawl through multiple pages. You can make it easy and keep one page... on which takes the enquirer from here to there… in one click.
Things you should think of
You have that great idea, but do others think it is equally great? Get feedback, bounce your thoughts and views off your family and friends and see what they have to offer in terms of idea opinions and suggestions.
Think like your own customer. Would you buy from you? What will attract your attention to your website and hold your attention too? Like a shop or store you walk into; some make you stay and browse, others you walk straight out of because “something didn’t quite feel right”.
Site demographics; who are your target audience and what do they specifically want. Analyze your visitors profile if you have a website in place already.
Keep your eyes, ears and mind open to change and implement the change too. This is no cement and brick business, it’s all visual and you need to be seen. You have to evolve and make sure your online business is evolving too.
And last but not least if your profits are over your expenses, you are on the right road.
So think like an entrepreneur with the above handy hints and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
