Internet marketing is unchartered territory for many small business owners. Fortunately, it is now possible to cross over to a new frontier which will increase your sales and decrease your advertising costs by putting the World Wide Web to work for your company. If you are scared to venture into a place where you are not comfortable, you are not alone. There are a tremendous number of fellow business owners who have a fear of online marketing. Simply put, we fear the things that we do not fully comprehend, and the internet marketing world is no different. This article will attempt to clear up several of the myths that are associated with an industry that is shaking up the planet on which we reside.

The first thing that you should know about internet marketing is that it can be extremely cost effective. As an owner of a small business, I am sure that you understand that the spending of our marketing dollars should be kept to a bare minimum. Operating a small company in this manner will lead to putting more cash in your business bank account. One way that online marketing can save you a ton of money is via email marketing. Sending direct mail via postcards and hand-written letters to your customers takes a great deal of time because you may have to write or type the actual letters, print them out, place stamps on each letter, and go to the local postal facility to send out your mail. Online Marketers who have mastered the art of email marketing can simply type up a simple email and literally blast out that exact email to a multitude of customers faster than you telephone your business accountant. We all realize that in business time is money, so picture maximizing your time and your marketing budget at the same time.

Another reason to use the internet as small business entrepreneur is because it is where you can find your customers. The opposite is also true because many of your future customers will start their search for products and services via an online search engine. If you can be the company that your customers see when they are searching for products that you sell, you are in the right place. Knowing how to rank highly on places such as Google.com can help you to achieve this worthy business goal.

Internet marketing may be scary to some company heads, but if you are not willing to explore this lucrative marketing arena you are leaving money on the table. Don't be scared to venture into a new marketing medium just because you are used to another style of marketing. Realize that you can get your advertising message out more quickly to your client base, be seen on the first page of Google.com, and best of all hire a freelancer to do this for you very easily. There is simply no good reason not to enter the world of internet marketing today!

Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Kevin, Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.

In the past, there's been some interest voiced about adding a "Social Media Marketing", "Online Marketing", "Internet Marketing" or "Online Promotion" category. I'll implement [u:1g2tv6tf]ONE[/u:1g2tv6tf] of those new categories, but can someone first tell me what the difference would be between the existing "Marketing" section and one of those new options mentioned above? Re: What is your Business? - We are running a Online Marketing Firm and we have some good clients to which we are offering a complete Digital Marketing strategy like Search, Mobile Marketing, Branding and Design. I think in Online Marketing company online presence can be a wining factor for the success of the company.
Internet Marketing Conference on SLife - I've been trying to log in but it keeps crashing.. anyways.. a friend of mine in BC plans on holding Internet Marketing Conferences on SecondLife and have the same top internet marketers that would normally be in Live Internet Marketing conference speak. Income will be generated from admission charges, product sales during breaks, sponsor tables, etc etc.. Just to get the ideas flowing in your head that anything you can do in the real world can be replicated in SL. There is no planned date as of yet for this conference.
Re: Affiliate Marketing - Open for Discussion - Hi GT Affiliate Marketing is one of the easier ways to get started making money online, but it does take quite a bit of work before you see any great results as you have to keep promoting constantly. It does teach you one hell of a lot about all aspects of Internet Marketing though as you will need to learn how to write and submit articles, create and maintain a blog, social networking is a great help to affiliates too..the list goes on and on.
