Marketing – Big resolution Small Budget
Recession akin to a pandemic has punched uswhere it hurts, so much like the flu scare. To work around the existing problem, businesses have finally dug into the treasure trove of mothers' wisdom. It is a déjà vu experience of sorts; we have all been there at some point or the other - take small bites and chew slowly! One has to carefully reinvest while keeping the expenses low. That is going to be the master key to recovery.
Many small businesses are revertingback to the small, seemingly insignificant business models that big players often overlook. One aspect of business recovery is your marketing strategy. Even though an ambitious idea, marketing need not eat into your limited budget if you work from a pre-determined smart marketing plan.
A smart marketing plan is the key to the success of any venture. Smart marketing does not translate as costly. It means being effective. To understand this, we must understand what marketing is and what it accomplishes. Marketing is the process of making your product or service readily available so that it can be made use of - In a single word, 'visibility'.
What needs to be considered here is the target group for the product. Any product has an end user in mind in the conception stage. Marketing connects the provider and the end user. Here are a few ides that you could customize for your unique business model.
Increase your visibility: A potential customer reads about you in the papers, attends a demonstrative seminar, and takes home a brochure, checks out your website. When you work out your marketing budget, plan how you will reach multiple channels for greater exposure and hence greater results.
Locate your business: Study a popular local business and its location strategy. This will save you money that you would otherwise spend on market analysis and demographics! If you plan to have your small office away from home this is a sure way to ensure great business opportunity.
Your neighboring businesses can also become your unofficial joint ventures if your product or service complements theirs. For instance, a lifestyle showroom that has multiple levels and deals in all kinds of high-end products will certainly draw large spenders. A small grocery store can benefit greatly from being located close to it!
Leverage from Internet marketing: The cost of reaching the target audience is neatly trimmed to a fraction of the budget involved in the more traditional media advertisements. Internet at the consumer's finger tips gives him more flexibility to research and choose products at his pace.
Make sure you have a simple and attractive web page with the facility to buy online. You can also showcase your positive customer reviews and feedback here which are invaluable. Two things to keep in mind while on the Internet is: be honest and do not exaggerate.
Another source to generate customer interest on the Internet can be social networking sites such as Face Book where, you can open an account in the name of your business and involve all your contacts to promote your business. This is great for an extremely low budget or if you run an entirely virtual business.
To sum up it is clear that a low budget need not deter you from pursuing a marketing strategy for your business. Keep your eyes peeled. You are sure to notice the large ripples caused by the big businesses. It is only common sense to take advantage of that momentum. There still abounds a world of opportunity to grow more green stuff ifthe mindset shifts from taking too big a bite (more than what you can chew!) to some thing small yet loaded with nutrition!
