Networking with strong business leaders can mean the difference between your success and failure as a small business owner. Why would you want to learn all of the ropes of a new business without the assistance of a mighty leader? This is the equivalent of business suicide and could lead to a fast death at the hands of your customers who can be less than merciful. Luckily, there are a few factors that make networking with strong leaders simple. This article will show two methods to put you in contact with strong leaders so that you can forge some impressive business relationships.
Firstly, you need to find out where your local business meetings occur in your neck of the woods. There are several groups that meet on a consistent basis from which you could greatly benefit. Several organizations such as BNI even get together on a weekly basis. Having another business owner in your corner that can provide an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, and even a verbal challenge will inspire you to know that you are not in the battle to make a profit alone. Simply go through your local phone book and find the locations where these groups convene. Once you become a member of a group of this caliber, make it a point to seek out the ones who are doing well with the companies. These are individuals that you want to build friendships with because their experience can help you in your time of need. Offer to treat one person per week to lunch, and you will be surprised at the conversations that you can have over a hot meal. The fact is many company owners love to share their stories with up and coming business owners because they were once in that very same position. They understand what it takes to run a fantastic company because they have paid their own personal dues. Let these strong leaders know that you want to hear any horror story that they are willing to share with you because these stories did not stop them from getting to where they are in their careers. The key is learning while you are earning as you will come to find out during these weekly lunches.
Lastly, when you have gotten to the point where your business is thriving regardless of what type of economic environment exists, decide to become the strong leader that networks with newer company owners. This is how they will learn how to navigate the deep waters of business prosperity with the help of your guidance. The only difference is that now you will be the one who is receiving the free lunch, giving good advice, and helping another fellow small business champion to emerge. If each business owner would learn, teach, and preach the good news of business development, the business world would be in a much better place. Remember it all starts with you and your level of commitment. Commit to joining a business networking group, meet the strong leaders that attend each meeting, take them out to lunch on a consistent basis, and become the strong leader that is now able to mentor and inspire other future entrepreneurs.
