Qualities of a Leader Part 1
A superb leadership is often the platform on which a successful business stands. Leaders are like the ones at the helm of a ship. There are examples galore of how a single person can take it upon oneself to really turn it around for his or her company.
The saying goes, "Leaders are born not made." To become a good leader, you need to develop qualities that will help you achieve, what you want. It is like leadership development from within.
Some of the essential traits that need to be present in someone aspiring to be a good leader are:
Understand the Power to Communicate
Communication is the very base on which the success of any organization stands. It is a vital medium for leaders to put forth their views and ideas in order to make their followers see and understand their vision.
Leadership starts with making people understand your point of view without coercing them into believing it; it should be based on trust. Leadership development should be such that the communication process flows not only from the top but also from the bottom.
Build Confidence Among Your People
The people who look up to you as a leader must have confidence in you. For this is a process in which, you need to have faith in yourself and your people need to have faith in your leadership. If this faith is there for the leader, the people would be going all out to prove their worth for you.
The feeling of trust needs to be mutual because any business or organization cannot grow without unity among its people. Leadership development helps in enhancing your hidden leadership skills and traits that are extremely essential for the growth of your organization.
Motivate Your People to Deliver
Leadership does not mean that you should be bossing around; in fact it is far cry from dictatorship. Good leaders take it upon themselves to see that their people get out of problems and enthuse them to deliver their very best.
Good leaders and managers should always be inspiring and motivating those around them even in the worst of situations. This way they can gain the trust of their followers who can help them achieve their goals.
Have a Foresight To Make New Leaders
To keep your followers on track of what they are looking for, you need to be foresighted and plan ahead. Leadership entails you to look forward into the future and chart out specific roles for everyone associated. You should have a clear understanding what your goals are, where you stand in the scheme of things, and your rivals' strategies.
The hierarchy in your firm must be well outlined and set out as guidelines. There must be enough scope for leadership development or it-succession planning because all organizations need good leaders to help them grow and prosper.
Good leadership is the most essential component that helps in positive growth of an organization. Leadership development should ideally start from the leaders themselves and then proceed to the people.
