Financial Doom and Gloom or Opportunity? - By Carrie Langstroth

As humans we have been gifted with an amazing quality that enables us to absorb the best and filter out the rest. Naturally we are all created the same. It is how we are molded and guided through our life that decides our destiny. So, although there may be some who are born leaders, there are many more who develop the skill over time.

To be a good leader, you need to have certain leadership qualities that make you stand out from the crowd.

Make Swift and Crucial Decisions

Good leaders should posses the ability to use their skills and leadership qualities when they are needed the most. They should be ready to make swift decisions and at times, crucial decisions, on which a lot might depend. They should posses the "x" factor to help them make right decisions that benefit all.

Good leaders should also be ready to take the responsibility for a wrong decision. They are the ones who will be called when a problem cannot be resolved by others. And, playing the "blame game" is not something expected of a good leader.

Stay Focused on your Goals

A leader comes into contact with different types of people in their daily work or life, who, consciously or unconsciously try to influence them, and their thoughts. It is the ability not to be maneuvered that sets them apart.

It is in a way praiseworthy to get along with all people and yet not lose focus on the goal. Among other qualities, this is a quality that is essential in leadership. Good leaders have to drive their people toward the goal with enough logic and belief. They have to be true to their people always.

Learn Endurance

Endurance is a proven leadership quality that goes a long way in providing success. Leaders have to be patient and yet amicable in a variety of situations. You may have to deal with unpleasant people and state of affairs, but you cannot lose your cool.

Be Authoritative

Although endurance is important, you also need to be assertive. It is often these battles within that help you win. You need to exercise authority because not all people can be convinced with a smile. However, you need to be assertive without being too aggressive in order to be in command of the people and the situation as well.

Apart from these qualities good leaders also need to be go-getters and have strength of character. They need to be up before anyone else and be at the forefront of any event that concerns them, their people or even their company.

Good leaders should possess self control so that they cannot to be swayed by anyone or anything. They have to be strong willed in order to push their own limits and set an example for others to follow.

It is not enough to be a motivator, you need to do it yourself so that you are worthy of the leadership bestowed on you by the others.
