Do YOU want to be a work from home MOM?

So did I! That is when I took matters into my own hands I was tired of managing the monthly bills each month and the end product always came up to be hardly any money was saved and you would wonder " I hope nothing surpises me this week cause I cant afford it!" I was thinking just that and I was a working mom and it just was not cutting it to make my dreams of being able to do the things I wanted to do with my boys each day.
I was a working mom and I was paying that large day care bill that you don't want to have to write but you do cause what other option do you have you need the money! I was tired of trading my time for the dollar at a job that I was not getting paid enough with all the bologna that I had to deal with and I was done. I wanted to work from home. My kids were growing faster then I was able to keep up I decided that I wanted to be at home with them as much as possible but still be able to have the same quality of life.
While searching and trying and failing at many work at home opportunities I found the same-o-same-o- options of selling Avon, take surveys, or be a medical coder. Then I came across a website that advised me that the SELLING was eliminated, the products to buy was GONE! If I was serious I could not only work from home but improve my self and my quality of life. I saw the great business opportunity that WAS going to work. "But I don't know how to start an online marketing business?" Don't worry I had it laid out step-by-step, many training calls a week with all my questions to be able to be answered, and a proven system by many many people with a valid billion dollar company. I want to help you be there for your kids so that you can eat breakfast with them in the morning and still be able to pick them up from school and be financially fit.

Home Office vs Rented Office
- Another advantage to having a home office is the low overhead expenses. My monthly office costs would be increased by 300-400% if I had to rent an office. THis allows me to pass those savings on to my clients and also decreases the financial stress of being in business. I appreciate the savings that a home office gives me and none of my clients mind.
Its not for everyone and I understand that. I have friends who work from home and they have lots of distractions. I get far more work done since I work from home, although I do work much longer hours, but that's my choice at this point. I wouldn't want to work until 10 or 11 pm and then have to travel home, but this arrangement makes it work for me.

Re: Workaholism May Be Killing You
- Hi Evan,
Thanks for this post, I found the article very interesting and I do regularly work 12 hours or more but that is a total of my day job then Internet work when I get home,
I must say that I agree with Michelle that I only feel that I work at my day job and my Internet work I really enjoy although some nights I go to bed absolutely shattered.
There is an old saying that I think I may have used here before but it is something like “If you enjoy what you do then you never do a days work in your life”. If I ever get to the stage when I work form home full time then this would be the case for me because I love this work and would do it full time from home tomorrow if I could.

Mal.
Re: Balancing Your Man & Business
- One issue is the same women face with little kids, if they run home based businesses.
If you work out of your home, your man, or your kids, think you don't really work, and its okay to interrupt because it's "only them."
But it actually is a major distraction to try to be doing some creative work and having your family coming at you all the time.
Boundaries for home workers need to be set, and no guilting them out of it!
Re: Women and Home Based Business Opportunities
- Honestly, in most cases today... stay at home moms or wives does not necessarily equate to unemployment or anything of that sort. You will be surprised to see how many women who are making it big working at home. Perhaps the convenience of working at home and the flexibility of the work schedule attracts many women at home to engage in online work rather than actual office based work. Furthermore you should see how many clients prefer women over men when it comes to online jobs at home. Most clients states that women are always on time for work and are commited to get the job done. There are also a lot of women entrepreneurs who are now opting to start a home based online business because of the benefit of getting to be with your family at home. I know some women who successfully balances their online business and their roles as wife and mother. It sure is fun to see them work their business like a bonding time for them. I know one that is running a RTW clothing line online... Her husband is a photographer so he takes pictures for their products while their children gladly poses for the camera as a part of their portfolio. Well I guess if you really want to work out a scenario there are a lot of ways.. but if you are not that determined to do so then you can just think of different excuses.
Re: Why Did You Become An Entrepreneur?
- Hi members,
This is a great post by Evan and I am late getting on board but I thought I would ad my few cents worth, LOL.
I must say that wanting to be an Entrepreneur or work for myself has never ever meant that I wanted to have my own company, that has never been my motivation. My motivation has always been to work from home and be in control of my life, nothing else.
Just to be able to organise my life around working from home would be a dream come true for me and is something I am striving for. I have always been a fairly organised sort of person so the old trap of giving myself too much time off would probably work just the opposite for me. I would be so frightened of failure I would probably work too much.
There is an old saying which goes something like ’If you love what you do then you never do a days work in your life’. It is something like that anyway and for many of us, working from home would seem like that, it certainly would for me,
regards,
Mal.
