Do You want to retire EARLY?

I don't know how many times my husband has said we need to start now (we are in our mid 20s) so that we can retire early. We always had our 401k's through work and did our minimum plus 10% we were on track right? Well when we want to be able to retire at 50 no way no how. I don't know how many times I heard "we need to start doing investments or let's open a business!" I keep thinking how we don't have any money for all that extra stuff. We were a growing family with many dreams and you know the rest all the extra money was trying to be saved but ended up being spent on the kids of coarse! I decided that I not only want to retire early I want to be able to enjoy my kids while they grow and not work so much.

That is when I started looking at the ways to make extra money at least so that our jobs we could add more to our retirement and have another income to supplement what we were taking away. But then I found swapyourincome.com and then our thoughts about making that extra income to help us out but I saw an opportunity that jumped out at me that proved to me that I will be able to be that business owner and be shown step by step of how to be financially fit and be able to achieve our goals of retiring early. I want to help you and show you how you can achieve your dreams also cause we so to say have retired but we work from home a few hours a day but be able to work any where so when I take my kids to the park I can still be making money and I can say that I have retired because you do need something to do after you retire to keep you active and keep your nest egg growing!

Re: When do entrepreneurs retire, if ever? Re: When do entrepreneurs retire, if ever? - I believe Enterpreneurs can retire. It depends on the type of business investment he/she has established. Entrepreneurs can retire at any age after he/she has multiple streams of income.
Re: When do entrepreneurs retire, if ever? Re: When do entrepreneurs retire, if ever? - Why would you ever retire when you love what you are doing? Sell the business and start another one maybe - but retire - NEVER! You should all read, The 4 Hour Work Week - By Timothy Ferris. He talks about building your business so that you can take mini 'retirement's throughout your life, instead of saving it all up for when you are old. Great concept - what do you think??
What is your retirement plan? What is your retirement plan? - When we work for others, we've got all kinds of choices. Invest in their pension plan, a 401K, an IRA, savings, etc. I'm curious as to what entrepreneurs do. Obviously since we work for ourselves we never have to retire unless we want to... but what if we want to? What's [i:1wi1t1fi]your [/i:1wi1t1fi]plan to ensure that you can retire comfortably? Also, how many of us have health insurance?
Re: When do entrepreneurs retire, if ever? Re: When do entrepreneurs retire, if ever? - [quote="litekepr":4wi14t97]One advantage to being an entrepreneur is that there are few people who can force you to stop working based on your age. Shri[/quote:4wi14t97] What I find interesting is the age of politicans... Ted Stevens in Alaska is 84, some guy stepping down from the Appropriations committee is 91! You would've thought that they would have wanted to retire a long time ago, but I guess they just love being politicians... Anyway, yes, that is the joy of being an entrepreneur - you're working because you enjoy it, not necessarily because you have to, and you never have to retire!
Re: Back in action... Re: Back in action... - Hi David, Welcome back and I hope all is well with the family back in the UK. Sound like you had a nice evening on your return now that you are back in the saddle. Do I assume that you speak Japanese or do all the guests try to speak in English? The reason I ask is that I have spent a lot of time in Europe in my life and to my shame I have never tried (well not seriously) to speak a second language. Apart from French at school (which I have since lost) I have become like a lot of English speaking people and become lazy. I fully intend if at all possible to spend at least part of the year in Spain when I retire as I have always been happy there. For that reason I have just started Spanish language lessons in the hope that when I do retire I will have advanced to a level where I am comfortable with it. That’s the plan anyway; I would love to hear from other mods if you have any other languages or interesting experiences when trying to learn a new one, regards, Mal.
