The Secrets of Starting Online Business Enterprises

People who run successful businesses online are often a source of good advice for those just starting online businesses. This article contains secrets on starting online businesses that those entrepreneurs have been willing to share.

Secret#1: Be realistic. Growing a successful online business takes time. Understand that the first year may be the hardest. Keep in mind that starting an online business is just that-starting. Don’t expect the money to flow immediately.

Secret #2: Discover a niche, an area where no one else in online business has explored. Think outside the box. If your market is candy, narrow your options to something no one has likely thought of before. Recently, one successful candy entrepreneur came up with the idea of chocolate-covered bacon. The response to this product has been tremendous.

Secret #3: Watch out for negative connotations. Avoid names for your company that could be a turnoff to buyers. Words like spider can succeed, but remember that many people are afraid of spiders. Also take care to not to offend any ethnic group with the name of your business.

Secret #4: Check for trademarks. More than one individual starting a business online has come up with a great company name only to find it exists- and is protected by trademark laws.

Secret #5: Take time to study the marketplace. Narrow the focus of your market research to finding people who might have a genuine interest in your product or service. Again, this takes time. And again, it is worth the time investment.

Secret#6: Don’t Assume. One common mistake made by people starting a new business is dismissing a potential gold mine of an idea. Never say or think. “No one will buy that.” As you build your business, remember the words “chocolate-covered bacon.” There is no limit to what people will buy.

Secret #7: It is vital to know who your customers are before you start. Are you selling to individuals or other businesses? Are you selling locally or is geography unimportant? Identify as many traits of your customer’s base as you can.

Secret #8: Offer your customers great service. Think about businesses you buy from. Would you go back to a store where the sales people are rude or don’t know what they’re doing? According to small business experts, customer satisfaction with service is as important if not more important than the products or service itself.

Secret #9: Plan ahead. This may sound obvious, but look to the future when starting your business. Ask yourself, “What do I hope my company will look like in 5 years?” This will help ecognize any changes needed along the way.

Secret #10: Bundle other products. Bundling means including another company’s goods or services with your own. There is plenty of business out there to go around. Sometimes helping another seller helps you.

Secret #11: Think like the competition. People in law enforcement try to develop a profile of a serial criminal by thinking like him or her. People who are starting businesses online should do the same with respect to competitors. Try to stay a step ahead of the competition by second-guessing them.

Secret #12: Use free market-research tools when you start your business. The internet is chock full of information available to help you out. Much of it is available at no charge.

Secret #13: Ask Questions. Individuals starting online businesses sometimes fear that asking questions makes them look stupid or weak. There is no such thing as having too much Knowledge.

I don’t know about b2b marketing but I have done marketing so know things about it. I will suggest you to take online services which will spread your business all over web network. Business Innovation Business Innovation - Hi Simon If you can finish off the Business Plan and think about your strategic direction or how you are going to use your product to convince people it's a great idea, it will set the foundation for your programming project. You see, when you are looking for funding you will need a Business Plan and Strategic Plan that will convince companies to invest into your new idea. Has anyone achieved this idea before using another industry besides health and fitness that you know of? You should also design some mockups as a "preview" for your programming project. This will also help reduce your programming costs as everyone will know exactly what you want if you have detailed mockups already completed including any functionality you require. Starting mockups for websites and software applications on paper is the best way if you're not a guru in graphic editing software.
