A Life Worth Living

Guest post by: Pia Lord

Article Overview: This article will serve as an introduction to a series of articles that I am writing on a wonderful book entitled “The Slight edge “ by Jeff Olson. The Slight Edge can be characterized as the road to success. either you are above that edge and working on the arc of success or you are below it and working toward failure. Follow the series called The Easiest Journey to understand the slight edge, how to live above it and forge your path to success.

A Life Worth Living

Having the slight edge in life is vital. The slight edge is that road that you take that is filled with the right choices. it gives you that special something, having that cutting edge advantage, going that extra mile, adding that unique touch to whatever it is that you do. Whether you are the first to arrive , the tallest in the crowd, the most charming personality, the most mellifluous voice, the fastest legs, the most dynamic product or the highest return for the year’s stocks or bonds, you still have that edge. You hve it because you make the right choices, the wise choices on your road.

One day there was a woman who ran a shoe shine shop. She could and did her job well. But she had nothing out of the ordinary except that she could remember everyone’s name and face as they came by her shop. She read many books, yet not the ones that would increase her self in personal growth and development. She was an entrpreneur, yet her business remained what it was. Was she interested in taking it to the next level?

She had great qualities, yet were her choices the right ones. She knew what it took to make a business, her business work. And with that she was able to let her spirit shine through her heart, welcoming people from all walks of life, whenever she was working at her airport shop.

Seemingly ordinary, this women had a simple single quality that allowed and pushed her to success. Perhaps it is not the success that others dream about, but it was a stable success non the less, a sustainable life. Yet was she seeking more? And did she know how to get the information that she was seeking to propel her to greater heights?

In your life strive to find that slight edge, that “je ne sais quoi” that you have which will drive you beyond the ordinary to greater heights.Find those baby steps that you need to take each day on your road to success. Entrepreneurs have to do it themselves most of the time. So we must know exactly what it is that we must do in order to be productively moving towards our higher selves and greater achievements.

The Second Life Platform The Second Life Platform - Greetings! I'm not sure how many of you have heard of or are sensitive to Second Life and its related entities. However, Second Life is a fantastic platform to mimmick real life business operations in a real currency based economy. There are plenty of successful stories for creative individuals, but I'd highly suggest doing your research and appreciating Second Life for what it is, and what it isn't.

Re: Charge what you're worth Re: Charge what you're worth -
People will pay you what you ask. Very few will ever up the price. You are the one who decided what you are worth. The key is that we believe our services are worth the price we are asking.[/quote:292ze3jd] Hi Tami, You're absolutely right. In "Think and Grow Rich", Jessie B. Rittenhouse says "For Life is a just employer, He gives you what you ask, But once you have set the wages, Why, you must bear the task. I worked for a menial's hire Only to learn, dismayed , That any wage I had asked of Life, Life would have willingly paid" (Napoleon Hill 35). I think the same can be said when setting prices on eBay or Craigslist, especially when people are trying to haggle you.
Re: What Do you Prefer More - Time or Money Re: What Do you Prefer More - Time or Money - Living the moment. I am living the moment since 4 years ago, after the docs found cancer. They removed it, of course, and since then I just do what i want. Jumping from an airplane was one thing, that was great. Now I want to fly to the moon. I need money for that.
Re: Favorite Christmas movies Re: Favorite Christmas movies -
I do have to say I've never liked[i:1rxsgr0t] It's A Wonderful Life[/i:1rxsgr0t]. He spends all his life having his hopes and dreams shattered, feeling miserable, and its only at the end of his life that he can look back and realize how many friends he has, etc. But that doesn't change the fact that up until that point he was miserable![/quote:1rxsgr0t] I love the sentimentality around watching that movie with your Mom! Chtistmas is made up of all those sentimental things. "It's A Wonderful Life" is all about perspective, much in the same way that Scrooge is 'realigned' in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" - which I listen to on CD every year (sometimes twice!) Happy Christmas Everyone! Regards Martin
