Do you put your living on hold?
Do you put living on hold because of the needs/demands of everyday
life? What are your excuses? Do you not have time, no money, feelings
that you will have time later, or is it when the time is right you will
be able to complete or do A, B, or C in your life. What do you put
off? Spending time with family, time with friends, doing the things
that matter to you? Exercise, reading, or playing.
Now that I
am 30 plus years old, I am realizing how quickly life can pass you by
(my grandmother was right, it happens in a blink of an eye). It is
easy to get caught up in the little things in life; like making money,
or working on your career. I see examples of people letting their
lives pass them by everyday; the priorities that are stated are not
what really win in the quest for time from your life.
I have a
friend who was living two and half hours from where I had recently
moved; she claimed that she wanted to come visit; in fact before I
moved there I was across the country, so this was an easy trip compared
to the prior. I still heard all of the excuses (that we all use);
just don't have time and not enough money to make the trip. It was a
short six months that I lived so close and then had to move back across
the country. I still remember speaking with her about the move and her
thinking that she would have more time. I worry that this is what so
many of my friends and family will think when it is the end of their
lives. I wish no one to have that kind of regret. You may not even
realize that you are putting other small items as the priority in front
of those that you wanted to be your priority.
I recently saw the
film "Click", staring Adam Sandler, showing him having the power to
fast forward through parts of his life with a magical remote control.
This remote would then remember settings placed from previous usage.
I won't ruin the ending for you, but it shows how easy it is to feel,
"If I could just get through this part of my life, then I will be able
to blank", you can chose the blank. In the end, if you chose to not
enjoy those moments of your life, you miss out living your life. Death
is a very harsh reminder that we only have a certain amount of time
here and that we need to enjoy it while we can. I would recommend
being cognitive about how you spend your time and set your priorities
so you will not have regrets. Remember to enjoy the time you have and
that you can accomplish the dreams that you have made. You are the
only one holding you back; as I had to come to realize about a year ago.
