But in order for them to become successful, they need to first equip themselves with the secrets of social network marketing. Social networking websites such as Facebook and MySpace is where the prospects of online marketers frequent, thus many marketers advertise on these sites. One of the secrets of social network marketing is for entrepreneurs to really get involved in the top social networking websites to maximize their exposure. Even video websites such as YouTube provide marketing components and great social networking to help promote a product or service.

The secret in social network marketing is to set-up a profile about the company within the social network site and interact with customers and their key prospects. Online marketers should provide information about the company and what it has to offer. From there, they should include links that will allow an interested party to visit the business' website in order to capitalize on any prospects. Of course it is very important that this profile has well-written content that is informative and entertaining to its readers and this can come in various forms such as blog posts, tweets, videos or even images.

The rules of marketing can still be applied in social networking websites but old school marketing strategies do not work here. Online marketers should never just push their products or services to their customers but should, in a way, make it beneficial for their prospects to visit their website.

Entrepreneurs that make use of social networking websites should create a reputation of helpfulness. Customers would willingly visit a company website knowing that they will put their interests in top priority. It is an excellent strategy to build the trust of the customers as anyone would prefer a business that can be relied on. This is also one of the effective secrets of social network marketing whenever entrepreneurs pursue their product or service advertising online.

Yet probably the most important thing in the secrets of social network marketing is that online marketers should really have fun and socialize with people in these social networking websites. It is after all a website where interaction is a must so it definitely helps when the reputation of a company is seen as one that is friendly, professional and helpful. This not only maximizes the network of individuals that know of the company, but it also increases the online visibility of the company whenever a product or service is required or searched in search engines by people.

Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Kevin, Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.
Re: How can a social networking site make serious money? - Hi There, It is quite interesting, that some Social Networking do produce an income. I think testimonials are always a benefit to share. See one below: This Social Network has changed my life! Every night is a Friday night and everyday is a Saturday!! Because of it, I have been able to leave the workforce 10 years early.It has given me back my life. Many of us would like to retire early. I am sure there are many more. The point is of focusing with great determination. The ongoing challenge is to stay focussed and not be sidetracked into a newer scheme or so. Also I have read, during this financial turmoil, more people turn to Social Networking for various reasons.
