The answer is simple; recognizing good work done by a team member gives them reason to work harder and keep up the good work. It is a way of showing people that you appreciate their work and would like them to continue to work with you.

- Paid holiday; give your employee a day off to enjoy himself. You may also give him a gift voucher for lunch or coffee in a good restaurant and he will appreciate it.
- Thank you; nothing can beat a heartfelt thank you to your team member or employee in front of everybody else. Thank him for something good which he has recently done for your business.
- The best way to recognize someone’s good work over a long period of time is to raise their pay or give them a bonus. This will be the best motivating factor for him to work harder and stay longer with your business.

Giving team members a job which involves more responsibility is an indirect way of telling them that you think they are a valuable asset to your business.
When you consider rewarding someone, you should not judge on the basis of results alone. Often, people put in a lot of hard work, but unfortunately are not able to meet their goals.
