If you are new to the concept of home business, it is difficult to learn everything all by yourself. The presence of a good coach will help speed up things and get your business on the right track. Home based business mentoring is essential to your success.

The right coach:

Finding a coach to train you in business is not very difficult these days, given that it has become an industry in itself. What is difficult is finding a good coach who has complete knowledge of the game. Many so called home business gurus do not possess sound knowledge about the field and are out there just to take advantage of your needs and to earn a quick buck. That would not be conducive to home based business mentoring.

A good coach is someone who has been in a home business for a long time and has been successful. You must look for people who have the results to back up their claims. Ask people who have used a particular coach’s program about whether or not it helped them.

Getting coached:

When you do find a good coach who perfectly suits your needs, you need to have an open mind to really learn what he wants to teach you. Be open to new ideas and be willing to try what he says. Keep your ego aside and be an avid listener. Ask a lot of questions and extract everything that you can out of him.

At the same time, you must also know when to use your own brain. You do not have to agree with everything your coach says. Your line of thinking may not be the same as that of your coach. In fact, having a debate with your coaches over your differences will give you many insights on the intricacies of your business.

You can also coach yourself:

Getting coached does not always mean that you have a person telling you what to do. The internet gives you access to loads of free and genuine advice on how to start your own home business. Many websites offer you free weekly newsletters which you can sign up for. This is still home based business mentoring from research and investigation on your own initiative.

Coaching others:

For your home business to succeed, it is not enough for you alone to be good in your work. You need others on your team to be equally adept in handling the business. As rightly said, your business is only as strong as your weakest link. It is important that you coach you team too on doing business effectively. Home based business mentoring is an important part of getting started, as well as coaching your team. A good leader after all, is one who can produce more leaders.

Exclusive: Interview with Results - Hi Forum Members, I'm helping start up a Business Coaching and Consulting company here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada (a Subsidiary of RSC Business in Los Angeles). As a Research and Development Intern I am required to practice my listening and interview skills by surveying Small and Medium Businesses on thier Business. Business Coaching Internship Review - I joined in during the first phase of the internship and at this point we are committed to doing research and development of RSC Business Group operating in Toronto. RSC Business Group already has products and services in Coaching Small businesses in Los Angeles but we didn't want to assume that the same products were wanted and needed in the Toronto market. Our goal at this point is to commit to interviewing 1000 business owners to capture this data. Through the teleconference internship I've been involved in we've been focusing on Communication Skills and on active listening which are practiced when we conduct our interviews and Coach our clients when they come on board. This is a lot harder than it sounds! Part of the internship is also creating the Toronto RSC Business Group's departments, job descriptions, Marketing and Communication plans etc that a business owner would create for their own company. This trains us in the way we would coach a company as well. The internship is phased in two parts and there is compensation plan involved as well for the clients you personally bring in. These clients are coached directly by Robert Chun as you begin but you are given a chance to learn his techniques. I haven't gone through this experience yet though. It's hard to explain Robert Chun's method of Coaching as it happens at a psychological level in his ability to listen and question the person being coached into the next steps they need to take. The Teleconferences are 2 hours long but it's very interactive. Note: it is a commitment but the skills you walk away with whether you plan on working with RSC Business Group or not is invaluable.
