Home Based Business Tax Tips You Need to Know

If you are fortunate enough to be working from home, you would be wise to get information on taxes. You don’t want a confrontation with the IRS, believe me. But you will of course want to take advantage of all of the deductions that the IRS allows you.

Remember, you are a Network Marketer running a legitimate Internet business from home. So, whether or not you have a tax accountant or file your own taxes you are in need of tax filing information to help you through the inevitable income tax season.

If you make your living on the Internet and work from home, you will need some home based business tax tips which are listed here:

· If you have an office in your home, which you should have, that work space must be used exclusively and regularly for the operation of your business.

· Specifically, it must be your principle place of business; in other words, there is no other location that you can run your business.

· You cannot use your office for family or personal functions. It is to be used strictly for business matters only.

More home based business tax tips include:

· You are allowed to deduct most of the costs associated with the upkeep of your home.

· You can deduct your mortgage and property tax payments or rent if you are not a homeowner, utility bills, insurance and Internet service payments to your ISP can be legally deducted. However, you can only deduct the amount of those costs that apply to your home office space.

· You can deduct the costs of web hosting, web site development and maintenance, and owning your domain name.

· You can deduct the full amount of the new computer you bought for you business during the year

It is a win-win situation for you as a home based business owner. These benefits will help you with growing your business until you begin to realize any significant profit.

Remember, it takes about 3 years before you will realize any profits from your business on the Internet. You can think of it as a return on your investment. Are these home based business tax tips helpful to you before tax season? I believe you will agree they most certainly are indeed helpful.

You’ll need specific tax forms to calculate and report your home business deductions. You can get all appropriate forms and other information at the IRS website. Always seek the advice and help from a tax professional to ensure everything is in order and acceptable by the IRS. Also, search for more home based business tax tips during the year because rules and regulations change often.
