Internet Home Based Business--Do You Need a Business License to Operate from Home?

If you are looking for an Internet home based business opportunity, you will discover it is your best option to survive during difficult economic times. A job, no matter how much you earn, you are not in control of your financial future. In fact, you are working to make someone else rich. When you lose your job, your income stops until you find another and that is no easy task during an economic recession.

Even if you currently have a traditional nine-to-five job, it would be in your best interest to start a home business opportunity on the Internet. Start on a part-time basis and build your business, then, when you are laid off, you can step into your business on a full-time basis.

It is true that starting a home business can be risky. There are several factors to consider and investigate before starting your business venture; tax issues and licenses.

When starting traditional brick-and-mortar businesses in the real world, you will discover it requires a lot of government involvement. The question is do you need a license to operate your Internet business from home?

NO, you do not need a license to conduct your business on the Internet from the comfort of your home. For most cities and states, you really don't need anything other than your social security number for tax purposes. So, you will not have to pay local, state or federal fees or apply for a license. However, like all individuals and businesses you are responsible for reporting your earnings by filing federal and state income tax forms.

The good news is, when operating a legitimate business on or off the Internet, you are eligible for tax benefits. Allowable deductions include rent or mortgage payments, home utilities, cost of computer equipment, transportation costs and more. You will need to keep accurate records of expenses and save all receipts. The money you may receive as a result will help to keep your business up and running. It is a win-win situation for you and your business.

What business can you start with minimum start up capital and be set up and ready for business almost immediately? The answer is an Internet home based business opportunity presented to you by a reputable network marketing company.

Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? - HI, I have used trade shows (not participated) to collect potential clients. For example, the Home & Garden Industry is extremely behind the time in regards to their websites. I attended an Home & Garden Expo in Denver and collected all the companies contact information. I plan on cold calling & mailing information to each business. It also gave me time to research the industry more, talk directly to the owners in many cases, and learn more about what they need. Jeff

Re: Who inspired you to start? Re: Who inspired you to start? - Hi Evan, I was inspired by Mr. Bill Gates ever since I was a student learning Computers. But I was motivated for Internet as my Business, when I read his book "The Road Ahead" in 1995. It was in this book that Gates laid out his vision of an interconnected world built around the Internet. Based on the premise that life will be transformed by the convergence of inexpensive computing and inexpensive communications, Gates drew from his experience at the center of the personal computer revolution to give insights on the growth, evolution and impact of technology. I had always looked up to Bill Gates as my idol. When I read this book, it made me more focussed on Microsoft and Internet, The Internet was one of the upcoming things in this time. So I took over to the Internet as my primary business. Regards,
