Internet Home Based Business--What You Need to Know Before Starting

An Internet home based business opportunity should be food for thought whether you are employed or not.

So many people today focus on the Recession and talk about how difficult it is to keep their head above water, but have no plan or idea about how to survive it. The overwhelming majority are in shock from being laid off recently or have been unemployed for more than 9 months. Their strategy or plan is to look for another job at a time when jobs are still being outsourced and the world is in the midst of a deep Recession. I see it as an economic shift that requires independence and an entrepreneurial spirit instead of a job. The Internet is the vehicle on the road to success, independence and financial freedom.

You need to know that starting a home business on the Internet is your best option in these tough economic times. It is the only viable alternative to a traditional job or business in the real world as opposed to cyberspace. You further need to know that a successful business on the Internet require hard work, dedication, self-discipline and motivation.

The main resources needed are a late model computer, high-speed Internet connectivity and at least basic computer and Internet skills. If you are not up to speed on using the computer and the Internet, you can self-educate yourself with the many free tutorials available on line.

When you are ready, start your search on the Internet for a legitimate home based business opportunity and be sure to research it thoroughly before you join. Check out their compensation plan, training availability, what product or service they are promoting as well as their business reputation on the Internet.

In addition, perform an assessment of yourself to determine whether or not a home business opportunity is for you. Think seriously about whether or not you have what it takes to start, build and maintain an Internet home based business.

If you decide to accept the challenge of starting an Internet home based business opportunity, you should know that as a business owner, there are tax benefits available to you. More good news is that you can deduct mortgage or rent payments, cost of your computer and other equipment, household utilities, as well as transportation costs related to your business. Of course you will need a separate room in your home for your business office. Best of all, you get to spend time with your family as well as set your own work schedule and the dress code is whatever you want it to be.

Re: Who inspired you to start? Re: Who inspired you to start? - Hi Evan, I was inspired by Mr. Bill Gates ever since I was a student learning Computers. But I was motivated for Internet as my Business, when I read his book "The Road Ahead" in 1995. It was in this book that Gates laid out his vision of an interconnected world built around the Internet. Based on the premise that life will be transformed by the convergence of inexpensive computing and inexpensive communications, Gates drew from his experience at the center of the personal computer revolution to give insights on the growth, evolution and impact of technology. I had always looked up to Bill Gates as my idol. When I read this book, it made me more focussed on Microsoft and Internet, The Internet was one of the upcoming things in this time. So I took over to the Internet as my primary business. Regards,
Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? - HI, I have used trade shows (not participated) to collect potential clients. For example, the Home & Garden Industry is extremely behind the time in regards to their websites. I attended an Home & Garden Expo in Denver and collected all the companies contact information. I plan on cold calling & mailing information to each business. It also gave me time to research the industry more, talk directly to the owners in many cases, and learn more about what they need. Jeff
