Starting a Home Based Business-to Start or not to start is the Question

To be or not to be that is the question. If you are looking for a business opportunity on the Internet, the question becomes, is starting a home based business something I can do.

Whether or not to start a home business may be one of the most important questions confronting you in these difficult economic times. Before you accept the challenge of becoming a home business owner, there are a few issues that should be seriously considered. First you have to understand that this business is not for everybody and you must decide whether or not it is for you.

What should you know before starting a home business on the Internet?

If you are starting a business venture on the Internet just for the money, you might as well stop now and keep your regular 9 to 5 job. You can be sure one of the biggest mistakes a new entrepreneur makes is starting a home business just for the money. Yes, there is a lot of money to be made, but doing it just for the money will surely lead to failure.

You must look before you leap, so to speak. You would never venture to take a trip somewhere you have never traveled before without a map. If you did, you would wander about aimlessly and end of getting lost. The same thing happens with starting a business on the Internet; you will end up throwing in the towel and run away from what could have been your path to financial freedom.

Be prepared to work because your business will only be successful if you work at it. Yes, that four letter word called WORK that you cannot escape. You will more than likely work harder than you did with your previous job. Necessary requirements for a business on the Internet are; self-discipline, motivation, dedication, patience and the tenacity of a pit bull fighting dog. Giving up or quitting cannot be allowed to enter your mind.

Are you ready to accept the challenge starting a home business?

You will need to prepare a room in your home for a private office where you cannot be disturbed during working hours. Family and friends must understand and respect your wishes not to be disturbed. Remember, starting a home based business is serious business and you have to treat it as such or suffer the consequences of failure.

Even though start up cost may have been low to start, you WILL need cash on hand because there are expenses necessary to run the business. Expenses such as; computer supplies and maintenance, computer security software, file backup system, printer and paper supplies, separate phone line for your business and other significant resources that all cost money.

The good news is, if you are persistent and committed to finish what you started no matter what, the rewards of your hard work and dedication will pay off big time. Residual income from your business will be your financial freedom and a recession-proof job to pass on to your heirs.

In conclusion, yes, starting a home based business is the best option for you in these tough economic times.

Will it be okay to start with setting up a blog or website. Please make some recommendations.[/quote:1tztov79] Start with affiliate marketing if you don't want to create a product and just want to worry about getting traffic. You can do this through creating a blog, which is usually something easier for beginners to do compared to learning about search engine optimization.
Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? - HI, I have used trade shows (not participated) to collect potential clients. For example, the Home & Garden Industry is extremely behind the time in regards to their websites. I attended an Home & Garden Expo in Denver and collected all the companies contact information. I plan on cold calling & mailing information to each business. It also gave me time to research the industry more, talk directly to the owners in many cases, and learn more about what they need. Jeff
