With the rise in layoffs and the recession still looming, more people are looking for a Network Marketing business opportunity than ever before. And make no mistake about it -- people don't join companies, they don't join because of products, and they don't sign up because of compensation plans.

People join leaders whom they believe will take them "to the promised land" -- financial freedom, time freedom, and personal freedom.

One of the questions I get most often from my blog readers is, "How do I become a network marketing leader who others will want to follow?

There is a myth in business that leaders are born or have certain advantages over others less fortunate -- they are smarter, or better connected, or wealthier. But the fact is that leaders are not born, they are made. And people do not become leaders in one giant step. Rather, leadership results from a series of small, distinct steps performed over and over again without fail.

This has never been more true than in Network Marketing.

If you want to become a top network marketing leader, there are 4 rituals that you must follow each and every day. They are all inclusive; that is, all 4 must be followed and missing just 1 will reduce the likelihood that you will become the leader you desire.

Here are the 4 daily rituals to becoming a top Network Marketing Leader:

Visualization of Goals

Leaders visualize their goals on a daily basis, most commonly first thing in the morning and/or late at night before sleeping. They are very specific in these goals, such as making $50,000 in the next month, or getting 200 low cost leads per day. They visualize themselves, in great detail achieving these goals -- where they are, who they are with, and exactly how it feels. Top network marketing leaders are definitely not vague about their goals.

Performing Income Producing Activities

To an online marketer, this comes down to two things: driving traffic to their website and communicating with prospects. These are truly the only 2 activities that generate income, and top network marketing leaders spend the majority (>80%) of their time each day performing these tasks. It might be creating a video, writing an article or press release, or building out pay-per-click campaigns, it doesn't matter. What does matter is that the majority of their time is spent on income producing activities.

Masterminding With Other Leaders

Leaders spend time each day masterminding with other leaders. It may be in the form of a formal mastermind group, a training call or webinar, or a simple phone call with another entrepreneur. Top marketers use this time to brainstorm and throw out ideas for growing their business.

Expecting and Encouraging Leadership In Others

Leaders expect others to become leaders and work with them as such. Most importantly, they raise the leadership bar for these people, inspiring them to reach higher and become top network marketing leaders themselves.

These 4 rituals -- goal visualization, income producing activities, masterminding, and empowering others -- followed daily will, over time almost certainly result in increased sales, recruitment, and a reputation as a top Network Marketing leader.

My initial reaction to the business was "snake-oil salesman" but once I got to understand the "overall business model" I am now an advocate to it. MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) is also known as Network Marketing. I realized an MLM business is no different than any other business. One needs to focus on both words "Network" and "Marketing" and give both equal respect. Some people focus heavily on the Networking part but forget "Marketing". I've started to use Building on a Budget and Magnetic Sponsoring concepts in my NM business and have found that people don't get involved so much because of the product but more because of what you bring to the table as far as marketing systems and support. I have both products listed in my signature. you don't have to buy it as the link to the free videos itself provides you a good understanding of what is required to position yourself as my above paragraph. If you do plan on purchasing it I can tell you that the measly $40 will open your eyes BUT your upline will not be too happy (atleast in the short term) beacuse the system is not duplicateable. I wrote this post as a polar post to Bulmer's reply as I have exhausted the friends and family networking and realized i never really focused on marketing. My leads now are more qualified and open to hearing about my opportunity than the other way around. my 2 cents if you plan on growing an MLM or Networking Marketing business.
Network Marketing Business - Hello all, Recently, I had join a Network Marketing Business on a part-time basis. Does anyone here who has some knowledge on this type of business? I want to learn as fast as I can from all the gurus here
10 best franchises to get involved - My advice is: 1) Go to the library and start reading business books (accounting, finance, etc.) 2) Go to your local community college and enroll in night classes 3) Join the local Chamber of Commerce 4) Network / Network / Network -- through the above sources. Once you have spent two years doing the above, then look for a 55 - 60 year old business person that is looking to reduce their time in the business. Then you can work on a sweetheart financing option.
Re: answer this question - This is a good topic. I haven't done anything, yet, to seriously damage my business. I did shift gear though. It was the best decision I ever made. For me, affiliate marketing was not working. Making the switch to Network Marketing made all the difference.
