Effective Twitter Strategies For Promoting Your Business

If you're looking for effective Twitter strategies for promoting your business, I've got plenty of them for you today. This social networking platform is much different than anything you've seen on the Internet. This is especially true because you can keep your information short and concise, which is great for the fast paced world we live in today. So let's look at a few ways you can promote your business by using Twitter.

All about the Following

Yes, in order to make a major impact on your business with effective Twitter strategies, you have to be able to produce a following. If you sit there and hope that people start following you, it's going to take a long time for you to reach a beneficial number. So, in order for you to make a major dent promoting your business, you're going to have to start following others. Most of the time they will follow you in return, which is basically an unwritten twitter rule.

How to Benefit from It

Listen, effective Twitter strategies revolve around gathering your following appropriately. Depending on your niche, you need to find individuals who are interested in the same thing. So let's say you're promoting sports bobbleheads; you will want to gather a following that revolves around the various sports you're promoting.

On a personal standpoint it's important to be yourself. It's not all about your business and the sooner you figure this out the easier it will be to draw in more people. When it is time to start promoting your business, you have to do more than "Hey take a look at this site!" In all honesty, most people will simply pass on it. Instead, put in something like, "Have you seen the new Hideki Matsui World Series MVP poster?" Granted, you should have one to view, but if it's a picture that is special, people will remember it.

The Tricks

One thing to keep in mind when you're using Twitter, you only have 140 characters to work with before it cuts you off. This means if you add a URL it will be counted as part of your characters. Now, several marketers utilize some sort of URL branding option that makes their link smaller. This way you can put more information in your "tweet."

If you need to help your article marketing campaigns or blog get a boost in views to help in search engine optimization, it's smart to share your links on Twitter. So even if you aren't necessarily promoting your website, you're still helping it gain a reputation online so more targeted traffic can find its way to your site.

There are several effective Twitter strategies out there for promoting your business. In fact, when you start using this social platform yourself, you'll soon realize many tactics on your own. The end result is you will be able to reach out to others and gather a following. In the online world this is essential to building a successful business online.

Re: Twitter vs Facebook Re: Twitter vs Facebook - I use Facebook pages for Business and rarely ever use Twitter. I hace lost count of the no. of Hotels that I have visited, regarding their marketing campaigns, that may have 5k Facebook Fans and only 100 followers on Twitter. It is a lot more difficult to engage with people on Twitter and thus harder to gain traction. If you are a business like Nike, then Twitter is great, but if you are an SME, then focus on Facebook or LinkedIn (if you are providing a professional service.) You can always have your Facebook feed directly in to Twitter, so you can have a presence on both, but do the work on one. Also check out ping.fm for managing campaigns - it is a free tool, and a great time saver.

Evan and his team should be promoting it as much as possible. Us moderators and other members can help too by spreading the word about it anywhere we can.
Re: Using Twitter To Double Your Traffic? Re: Using Twitter To Double Your Traffic? - I'm sure in many cases Twitter sends more traffic than Search Engines because most people don't have good enough SE rankings to get SE traffic. But anyone can get Twitter traffic. The problem is that Twitter traffic won't convert for the most part and SE traffic will. I'd venture to say that 98% of the time getting just 100 visitors from search is better than getting 2000+ from Twitter.
