Why MLM And the Hype Surrounding It Are Old News!
Let's face it, Multi Level Marketing (MLM) has been around for ever, and it will continue in some form, but the reality is that as people become more educated with the freedom to choose and better knowledge available on the internet a lot of the more traditional MLM's are going to fade and die.
Also, with the whole advent of the new social media culture and the emergence of Facebook and Twitter, the landscape has changed.
Integrity and honesty is now a must, and anything that is shady or lacking quality will very quickly be exposed. Also with the advent of the internet the way we look at the traditional home based business has also changed.
Why would the average person want to go down the path of MLM where they have to buy a garage full of pills, lotions and potions when there are now a multitude of affiliate and internet marketing opportunities that do not require any inventory, and some even with little or no start up costs.
The whole commission structure of MLM has also been exposed for what it is - a pyramid - at least 95% of all people involved do not make any money. The structure of the industry has always been the people who get in early at the top have benefited from the hard work of those below, with a multi tier commission structure. These days a flat commission structure is more common, where you are rewarded directly for the effort you put in - not some person skimming a commission who you may have never even met!
One thing people need to realise is there are no get rich quick schemes, they are like Santa Clause and the Tooth Fairy. If it was that easy then everyone would be doing it! And with the internet there are now so many e-books and marketing products for sale that everyone can't be successful.
So if you are going to enter this market, find a product without all the hype and that has real substance!

Facebook and Beacon - What Do You Think

Facebook Signals Changes With Beacon

The ringing outcry against Facebook Beacon, which posted people's
online purchases to their friends' News Feeds, led to Facebook
altering the program.
Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg's aggressive move into referral
advertising through the Beacon technology ran into a brick wall of
user discontent. After days of complaints that spread throughout
the media world, Facebook has changed their Beacon policies.
"Users now have more control over the stories that get published
to their Mini-Feed and potentially to their friends' News Feeds,"
the company said. Other details of the changes have been published
in the Beacon FAQ available to Facebook members:
"If you are logged in to Facebook and visit a Beacon Affiliate,
an action you take (like writing a review or purchasing an item),
may trigger that website to want to publish a story to Facebook.
Before that happens, a notification will display in the lower right
corner of your screen. If you click "No Thanks"...no stories or
information will be published anywhere on Facebook. If you click
"Close" or ignore the story, the story will be sent to Facebook,
but not yet published."
The previous version of Beacon would go ahead and publish details
of a purchase or other conversion activity on a participating
website directly to the Facebook user's Mini-Feed, which would
then appear on the News Feeds of friends tracking that Mini-Feed.
Some people complained that the notification appearing on a
Beacon partner site of the pending publication did not appear.
Facebook said people were leaving pages before the notification
dialogue could be fully displayed, and they have changed the
process to confirm the full notification has been shown to the
person.

At the end of the day, the BBC News channel is a business and I guess they understand the need to "sell out" with a more popular story than run "real" news... especially during these tough economic times.

- Off on my Christmas holidays with my family later today! Actually, we are flying to England and have been watching BBC World News reports about Heathrow struggling to cope with the snow... Hope the trains manage to run on Christmas Eve...
