Best Free Internet Marketing Techniques - The 5% Rule!

Article Overview: I have a team meeting on Skype every week and this is a forum for all of us to share anything to help each and every one of us to progress our business. This can be anything from marketing strategies, motivational books or CD's, updates on keyword research, how to increase social media followers and many more. The technique I brought to the meeting this week was the 5% rule. This is where you commit to doing an extra 5% work on your business on a daily basis.

Best Free Internet Marketing Techniques - The 5% Rule!

You might be thinking that you are already working day and night to get your business up and running, maybe still doing a day job and running your business part-time in the evenings. But everyone can find an extra 5% somewhere in their day! What I do is get up an hour earlier every day and do something to increase traffic to my business and that can be anything from writing an article, doing a blogpost or press release, making a video and offering valuable advice to other network marketers, visualisation, or reading a few chapters from one of the many personal developments books that abound the bookshelves (you should definitely have some of these in your bookcase to dive into on a regular basis) or some meditation to clear my mind and allow space for calm and creative thinking.

But whatever you decide to spend your extra hour on you will be amazed at the progress you make in your online business. Think about it like this: if you like making videos you could make one extra video a day, that's an extra seven videos a week, 30 extra videos a month and 360 extra videos over a period of twelve months. Now can you see the power of that? And can you imagine how much more traffic that will bring to your website and increase sales and profits for the year. All this for only an extra hour a day.

Here are some more ways you could find an extra hour in your day:

reduce your television time and be selective in what you choose to watch

reduce your consumption of the internet

go on an email diet! (if email consumes a big part of your day - you can save yourself an hour easily)

get up an hour earlier or go to bed an hour later

reduce shopping time - only buy the essentials (saves you money too)

leave work earlier (be really focused while you are there and get your work done quicker)

go to work later (this can work if you use the above and your boss allows it)

take a longer lunch - bring your own) sometimes it's easier to get an extra hour here rather than start or finish earlier)

limit social commitments - don't make so many plans and use this time to work on your business

limit the time you spend reading newspapers

if you are a member of a volunteer group or organisation - skip a few meetings - people will understand

instead of doing laundry every day - limit it to 3-4 times a week

Housework - relax your standards or do a speed-clean once a week for a couple of hours

cut out non-essential reading - you could use this time to do personal development and educate yourself further

minimize recreation time - playing sports, partying, playing video games

As you can see, there are many various ways you can find to spend an extra hour working daily on your home based business.You don't need to give up everythingas we are only talking about an extra hour here a day. Try it and you will be very surprised at the impact it has foryour online business and your mind. You will feel empowered and exhilarated by your achievements. And you will still have a life - we are only talking about a small amount of time - 60 minutes.

Re: Kevin's Case Study #11 - A New Forum Category? - Hi Kevin, Like GT suggested, I also think you can add Internet Marketing as a sub category in the Marketing section and also a Social marketing as subcategory. Online marketing/internet marketing/online promotion are the same, and it will be best to use the common term - Internet marketing. I can't think about someone to moderate a Social Marketing category. We all use it, we all know how to make it work and we all have our own different experience with it.

The one thing I might add for clarification to readers is on point number 4 concerning "dominating" search results. I always like to clarify the importance of dominating for a variety of well researched keyword phrases that ideally target your ideal buying audience. Sometimes people misunderstand and think the objective is too dominate all top 10 spots for the same keyword. The reason this is not wise is that anyone successfully dominating all top 10 spots may actually be reported to Google Abuse because the purpose of a search engine is to display a variety of choices. Competitors can become quite upset with a company who is dominating all top 10 spots for the same phrase. I realize you know this already, but just thought I'd throw it in for anyone new to SEO. A better way to "dominate" is for a variety of very well researched phrases to pull in multiple audiences of readers. Great post Jenny. Thanks
Internet Marketing Conference on SLife - I've been trying to log in but it keeps crashing.. anyways.. a friend of mine in BC plans on holding Internet Marketing Conferences on SecondLife and have the same top internet marketers that would normally be in Live Internet Marketing conference speak. Income will be generated from admission charges, product sales during breaks, sponsor tables, etc etc.. Just to get the ideas flowing in your head that anything you can do in the real world can be replicated in SL. There is no planned date as of yet for this conference.
