There are a few things you will need to get up to speed with and all they will cost is your time.
Your keywords are your golden egg. Research keywords until you understand exactly what you are doing and why and how keywords will work for you. You have to think laterally about this and know there is more than one way to skin a cat. Think about getting inside other peoples' heads and discover what people are thinking about and searching for. Everyone uses their brain in different ways and if you can learn to think like other people - you've hit the jackpot.

With your precious keywords in hand, work out your strategy and what marketing techniques to use that will get you front page Google placement. If you are a good writer, concentrate on articles and blogs.
If you feel comfortable in front of a camera, make some videos – they are very powerful as everyone likes a visual – make them short, interesting and valuable.
If you like the world of social media, work it strategically and be very business like without spamming every five minutes – people don't like that and you will disappear of your friends' list without any warning.
Social medial is a great arena for attraction marketing and gives you the opportunity to build relationships with people all over the world. Once again used correctly, it is great free promotional tool for your business.
To summarise – research and find your golden egg (keywords), intertwine your strategies (writing, videos, social media or blogging) around your keywords and execute your campaign (with the ferociousness of a thirsty lizard flat out drinking).

- Hi Kevin - there is a lot of speculation as to why so many websites lost Page Rank. A few new sites that I've been following also got Page Rank for the first time.
Every time Google does a Page Rank update there are websites that get caught in the crossfire and have to work to get their rankings back up!

- Bing is gaining popularity and within a short period of time this search engine has surpassed Yahoo and almost giving tough competition to Google.
There are more users logging into Bing every single day. Some of the cool things about Bing is that it is QUICK and has a better USER INTERFACE.
However, there is a significant different in the way Google and Bing rank websites. If you are planning to optimize your website for Bing then you need to consider these following tips.
1. Domain Age – Bing gives preference to your domain’s age. Google on the other also gives preference to domains which are old.
2.On-Page Optimization/Off-Page Optimization – Google gives more preference to Off-Page optimization rather than on-page optimization. Bing on the other hand gives more preference to On-Page SEO optimization rather than Off-page optimization
3.Text Density – Bing gives preference to keyword density of your content. If you are targeting a particular keyword and your keyword density for that keyword is abysmally low then you wont be able to rank too high on Bing.
4.TITLE is more important – Although Google does gives preference to keywords in TITLE, Bing entirely focuses on TITLE of any given webpage to decide whether it should be ranking at page 1 or Page 8. Therefore make sure to add your important keywords in the TITLE. Also you should abstain from artificial keyword stuffing. Several keywords are semantically considered as same. Take for example, Search engine optimization company, and SEO marketing company are semantically connected with each other. If you are ranking high for one combination, you will also rank for other combination.

- Please take a look at these and tell me what I should do. I am too close to them to see it objectively at this point. The main on is the tobuso.com one. The other is just a paper roll side bar project.
I have had a guy working on tobuso.com for about 2 weeks or so. I really dont understand why it doesnt have any Google Page Rank yet. I am starting to move up in the rankings for my targeted keyword but I am lacking in the google Page Rank and cannot figure out why. I guess it may just take more time. See if that is what it looks like to you.

- After re-reading through the posts in this thread it seems to me like there might be a little confusion as to what Page Rank (PR) really is.
For those who don't know...
PR is a number between 1 and 10 that Google assigns to a web page based on it's importance. With 10 being the highest and most important. It's mainly determined by the number and quality of inbound links to the web page but there are other factors as well.
It is NOT the ranking your site has in the Google search engine or any other search engine. If you are ranked #3 on google for "home business" that does not mean you have a PR of 3. They are completely separate things.
Furthermore, PR does not determine how high a site ranks in the search engines. It's possible and very common for a site with a low PR to outrank and site with a higher PR for the same keyword phrase.
If you want to raise your PR then you need more backlinks. Higher PR backlinks will pass more link juice to you and help raise it much easier.
On that same note, if you want to increase your search engine rankings for a particular keyword then you also need more backlinks with the keyword you are targeting as the anchor text. When it comes to that, Page Rank and Search Engine Ranking Positions are very similar but that is it.
People often think that they need high PR to get good search engine rankings and it is not true. They also tend to think that just because a site has high PR then it is better than a site with lower PR, that is also not always the case.
One final thing about this is that the PR you see on your Google Toolbar for a web page only updates a few times per year and is not necessarily the actual PR for that page. The actual PR is stored at Google and is updated constanty, and is not shown to the public. Only they know what it really is.
I hope that clears up some common misconceptions about Google Page Rank (PR).
Page Rank From Google Toolbar?
- Google toolbar on my PC has a Page Rank button which ranks the current page and will list similar pages to the one that's currently open.
I've also heard that some sites can fool the toolbar.
I was wondering if the people here that use the Google toolbar have used that feature much?
