Leadership is many things and there has never been a more appropriate time than now to understand what leadership is about. People in the workplace today are in a period of uncertainty as employment becomes more automated, redundancies are commonplace and people are expected to work on a contract basis without the security of a permanent income. These are some of the reasons that have encouraged people to think outside the square and look at alternative ways to make a living. Hundreds of thousands of people all over the world are working from home or looking for a home based online business opportunity. If you can educate yourself and become a leader you will have much success in helping others to succeed in a home based business and live a life of greatness and fulfillment.

Leadership is an essential quality you need to develop to make money from online business and lead others to succeed in their home based business. Leadership has been described as the “process of social influence where a person can enlist the aid and support of others towards the accomplishment of a common task”.

Leadership has many aspects to it and if you desire to lead a team towards a successful outcome and make money from online business, it is necessary to understand what leadership is about. You need to create a way for others to contribute to a task and make something extraordinary happen. You need to display your expertise to encourage participation at all levels of decision-making. You need to be adept at establishing processes and transparency in all decision-making. You need to clearly articulate your values and visions but careful not to impose them. You must identify problems and have the courage to initiate changes that result in improvement. And you must understand and practice the trademark of a real leader - to inspire and motivate others to contribute in a way that they also enjoy real benefits from the realization of your vision. Such is the role of the successful entrepreneur in a home based business.

You are probably thinking “but I'm not a leader – I don't have any leadership qualities.” This is not true – think about this. Leadership comes down to two basic things. Firstly, your perspective or belief about yourself and secondly if people like you. Leadership is about sticking to your guns in the face of adversity, criticism or dissent, not changing tact if your decision is unpopular. Now here's the good news - you don't have to study for five years or read a thousand books on leadership to become good at it – let's break it down into some simple steps.

You are born a natural leader – you all have within you the qualities required to be a great leader, but you have to recognize and use them. Your beliefs create your success or failure. Start to think differently about the leader you already are and you will be on your way. Everyone has led someone at some stage, even if it was a child.

Here's an example of a good leader. How many times have you been with a group of people and you are trying to decide which movie to see? Most of you will say “I don't mind – what does everyone else want to see”? All is takes at this point is for someone to say “let's go and see ....................” and usually, most of the time the others will acquiesce. There are only two reasons why you get people to follow you – one is that people like you and two, you had the courage to express an opinion. You may not consider this leadership but this is actually what leadership is all about.

Books and seminars on leadership skills are important and essential for your continuing education – but putting it into practice is the part that matters.

Keep this in mind and it will go a long way to help you become the leader you will need to be if you want to continue to inspire your team and achieve the success you deserve and make money from online business. Your followers must trust in you and be sold on your vision. In any online business, the leader's actions set the pace and your behavior will win trust, loyalty, and ensures the team's continued vision and success. One of the best ways to build trust within your team is to display a good sense of character based on beliefs, values, skills, and traits.

Re: Business Women Peer Mentoring Spotlight - Hi Everyone, Gosh, I REALLY appreciate your concrete feedback. This was far more than I expected and I'm glad you said what you thought straight out. Each of you have shared something of value and I want to take some more time to think and really go over what each of you have said. However, I can see there are some things I need to change right away. What an interesting point about a NEW program perhaps making people think they are guinea pigs! This is NOT what I want to convey! It's funny how we can see some things so clearly in others while not always seeing it for ourselves! I must admit there are a few things I've been meaning to change (like my bio which is very outdated). Obviously, these things need to be higher on my priority list. You caught me like the plumber who puts his clients first and doesn't get around to fixing his own tap! As far as my target market, I do feel quite strongly about working with Women Leaders and doing Leadership Coaching with them. It's non-negotiable in my books. In my Executive Coaching training, the terms "Leaders" and "Executives" are interchangable. To me, an Executive is a Leader and so is the Business Woman or Entrepreneur who is CEO of her own business. I love working with decision makers! What I did learn is that I need to avoid opening up the Leadership term beyond what I described above. I'm also wondering if there is a misunderstanding with the general public as to what Leadership Coaching really is. Leadership Coaching is all about developing your leadership skills, both as a people manager and in more effectively running and growing the business. There is ALWAYS room for growth in some way. As well, sometimes, we just need a sounding board to clarify what our next BEST step is. In fact, if a woman thinks she has nothing to work on, then we aren't a good Client/Coach fit anyway. How can she grow if she doesn't see the value of expressing ALL of the great ability within her? How can her company grow if she doesn't see the value of strategic planning for the next best level? Thanks again to you all! I will go back to my website and really question whether I am conveying the right message. At the time of writing this they are the top 2 posts in that section so they should be easy to find. I have also reported them both. I checked one of them and found many copies of it on different forums. One of them was the warrior forum and someone replied to it saying this... So it is definitely the same person, which means journeyoflife77 should also be banned. I already knew it had to be the same person but this confirms it.
