Home-based Business Idea: Newsletter Publisher

Online Newsletter publishing can be a successful home-based business if you are creative and have the passion for writing. To many publishers, newsletters can be a great tool to promote a business or product. To some, it is a channel to share with subscribers their expertise on certain given fields.

Since newsletters are designed to sell the information contained, the challenge is posed at finding the niche that will work for you. Many beginners find it difficult to choose the topic for their newsletters as it could break or make their business.

The secret to this is to consider your qualifications, interests and skills. If you have the enthusiasm for gardening, you may want to specify it more as urban gardening or urban gardening with little space. You can also specify the plant that you would propose to plant like urban herb gardening or urban vegetable gardening.

However excellent your newsletters are, your home-based business will not click if you do not have subscribers. Doing a research on your target market is helpful. If your niche is gardening, you have to know how many individuals love growing herbs, flowers or vegetables at their yard. How many do not have soil yard but want to have a garden?

Subscribe to other newsletters of similar topic and observe the contents of your competitor's newsletters. Study the layout and design, sections, articles and the classified ads. Make a note on their publication.

Identify which section is the most interesting and why. Observe the writing style. Is it narrative or conversational? Which sections would you not include on your publication? How would you improve it? Developing your concepts for your home-based business around these pointers will prove to be useful.

Newsletters that stand out are ones that contain subjects which are not covered by other publications, or even when they were already covered, the subjects were not given thorough attention. There should be topics which your specific market subscribes for.

Make your publication informative by supplying new and constant information like facts and figures, breaking news, feature articles and other useful information. The startup cost for publishing your newsletters should not really much.

Besides having a good set of computer, software and fast internet connection, your other expenses revolve around hiring a researcher, writers and graphic and layout artist. But if you are confident that you can do everything by yourself, then, there is nothing more you have to spend about except for your marketing.

Advertising is very important. You can send random free articles to your contact via e-mail for the next two weeks to entice them to subscribe. You can also send your best article to them but in order for them to have full access to the article, they may have to subscribe. You can also advertise on other websites and pay for the website owners a fraction for every subscription they may incite.

The subscription value for your home-based business should not be too low even when you are still starting. You may give discount if they are part of your first 75 subscribers, but you have to consider your cost for advertising. Your earnings should allow you to advertise your business, pay for your duties and have little more for your savings.

Magnetic Ads - Biz Idea Magnetic Ads - Biz Idea - Attn Young Entrepreneurs looking for a Business Idea. This came to me while sitting in Traffic for about 1 hour while looking and laughing at ridiculous bumper stickers. Note: this idea is rough but will help get the idea-momentum going. Idea: Sell advertising on the back of cars in the form of reusable magnetic signs (about the length of 2 or 3 bumper stickers) Most people shouldn't have reservations to participating if they get a cut of the monthly fee you charge the company advertising and it doesn't hurt their car. An example of a Magnetic Ad: Geico: I saved 15% on my Car Insurance. Call 1-800-U-SAVE-15 You don't have to pay the cost associated with creating the Magnetic Ad because you will advise the company that this belongs to them and you can get them in touch with someone who created reusable magnets. So your basically managing two sides: 1. Company's that want to advertise 2. People in your neighborhood (to start) who will put the ads on their car. Bigger cars can have more than one ad. Happy Money Making!

Perhaps the EvanCarmichael.com Forum e-Newsletter can be a "tweaked" version of the existing weekly email that's sent to moderators? What do you guys think? Maybe the e-newsletter should be customizable like an RSS feed?
