Home-based Business Idea: Personal Shopping Service

Starting a home-based business doing shopping for other people should start as part-time. Depending on the market and your progress, you may opt for more time spending at the shopping malls to choose an item of specific description from your clients. If the profits are impressive, you can make personal shopping as full-time career.

There is a wide market for personal shopping service as more families, couples and individuals who find themselves caught up in their busy lifestyle just do not have the time to do the shopping. Your personal services can be varied and may include buying groceries, school supplies and project materials for children, or supplies for patients and the elderly.

At times, a personal shopper may be asked to buy a gift for someone. The specific descriptions may be given by your clients or they may just give you some information about the recipient of the gift, and they leave to you the decision on which to buy.

Being an effective personal shopper does not only require that you have the patience and fondness for shopping. You should also be wise, fashionable and artful that your clients would love to trust your decision.

There are also times when most personal shopping home-based business owners offer consultation services to their clients, which can increase their income potential. Some women who are taking the corporate ladder may need some wardrobe. Instead of shopping and asking the opinion of sales lady, they may just consult the expertise of their personal shoppers, in which case, you should have a unique and impressive fashion sense.

If you become successful in shopping clothes for women, you have higher chances of attracting men to your clientele. Today, there are more men who recognize the importance of having someone who could help them decide on their corporate wardrobe.

Busy Mothers can also be your market. Especially on the opening of classes do mothers need help in preparing their kids for school. They may be glad to hire your home-based business to do the back-to-school shopping for them.

Starting a personal shopping business does not require an expensive start-up capital. Perhaps, the most expensive investment that you should get is having your own vehicle. Since you spend most of your time shopping, you need to have a reliable and fuel-efficient car for mobilization.

If you own a car, you can use that in your home-based business. Your government may even grant you rewards such as tax rebates. Developing a business plan is important. You have to be practical with the pricing. Consider offering affordable services without sacrificing your income.

In most cases, personal shoppers charge a fee based on the cost of the merchandise. The clients pay the merchandises exactly as you purchased them and add a percentage for your services. For example, you may charge 20% of the total amount of the merchandise purchased. So if you spent $500 for the items, your service charge will amount to $100.

Another way to charge your client is to pay hourly rate. Some charge $45 hourly rate. However, at times, you need to be practical. If the client asked you to shop for an item amounting to $50, charging them another $45 for one hour service is just too much.

Re: Service Or Product? Re: Service Or Product? - I agree with starting a Service-based Business in the economy. Here is what I think is critical: 1. Researching that your Service business has a market. 2. Marketing the Service with as much leverage as possible. 3. Product-izing the Service (aka Package Expert Knowledge). This will only help elevate you as "the" expert in your niche and make you accessible to people in different price points.
Re: Twitter vs Facebook Re: Twitter vs Facebook - I know this is a naive question but i'm really not sure: What do you tweet ? Business? promote your business? Personal? Are there things you can't do? ALSO :Is there a rule book? Is there a success formula using twitter?
Re: New Year - New Resolutions? Re: New Year - New Resolutions? - Business goal: To not procrastinate and to take action on my plans. Personal goal: To be more physically active as sitting on the computer all day isn't good for you.

Magnetic Ads - Biz Idea Magnetic Ads - Biz Idea - Attn Young Entrepreneurs looking for a Business Idea. This came to me while sitting in Traffic for about 1 hour while looking and laughing at ridiculous bumper stickers. Note: this idea is rough but will help get the idea-momentum going. Idea: Sell advertising on the back of cars in the form of reusable magnetic signs (about the length of 2 or 3 bumper stickers) Most people shouldn't have reservations to participating if they get a cut of the monthly fee you charge the company advertising and it doesn't hurt their car. An example of a Magnetic Ad: Geico: I saved 15% on my Car Insurance. Call 1-800-U-SAVE-15 You don't have to pay the cost associated with creating the Magnetic Ad because you will advise the company that this belongs to them and you can get them in touch with someone who created reusable magnets. So your basically managing two sides: 1. Company's that want to advertise 2. People in your neighborhood (to start) who will put the ads on their car. Bigger cars can have more than one ad. Happy Money Making!
