Home-based Business Idea: Home Décor

Home décor is a famous home-based business because after the consultation and closing of the transaction, planning and organizing can be done from home. Of course, you have to visit the client's place to ensure that everything goes to your instructions and your client's standards.

By being a home décor, it means that you have a knack for creativity either as an inherent talent or nurtured skill. It is important that you have the basics of home decorating even when you have the talent.

You have to know the rules of lighting and color, the terminologies, the elements used in decorating, accessories that go with different styles and themes. If you have been working as a decorator in a certain company for quite some time, then it is good for you. You will not experience many difficulties once you have gained your first client.

If home décor was not your previous job but you are interested in pursuing this as your home-based business, then you can enroll in short courses to acquire the precious knowledge. You can also buy and read relevant books or surf the internet. It is a good source of information.

Having the relevant certification of courses help you earn the trust of potential clients. It also helps you establish your reputation as a home decorator. The startup capital for this creative business is minimal. Besides from setting up your home office, creating a website is essential as most people today rely on the internet for purchasing anything and obtaining information for everything.

You can build your portfolio on your website. Your clients would like to know some of your creations. If you have not served any client yet, your home can be the perfect model. Your siblings, family and friends can also become your first client. Ask permission from them to take photos of the areas you worked at so you can publish them on your website.

Depending on your preference, you can choose offices or houses as your niche. If you choose offices, you have to know which décor fits which type of office it is. If you choose to decorate on houses, you have to define the specifics. Is it a nursery room, kitchen, dining room, living room, master's bedroom, children's bedroom or toilet and bathroom?

To maximize your profits, you can cater to both niches. Start building up your network of contacts that you will be working with whenever you have clients. These contacts come from industry like architects, art galleries, carpet companies, antique dealers, craft and art shops, paint companies and lighting technicians.

Knowing the variety of décor themes is helpful to your home-based business as some clients prefer the oriental theme while others opt for western. Still there are few people who love fleur de lis. In addition to being an expert in different theme, it is essential to know the local suppliers of décor for respective themes.

Having these contacts as your per-project business partner enables you to earn clients from their side as they may recommend you to their clients who are looking for a home decorator.

Magnetic Ads - Biz Idea Magnetic Ads - Biz Idea - Attn Young Entrepreneurs looking for a Business Idea. This came to me while sitting in Traffic for about 1 hour while looking and laughing at ridiculous bumper stickers. Note: this idea is rough but will help get the idea-momentum going. Idea: Sell advertising on the back of cars in the form of reusable magnetic signs (about the length of 2 or 3 bumper stickers) Most people shouldn't have reservations to participating if they get a cut of the monthly fee you charge the company advertising and it doesn't hurt their car. An example of a Magnetic Ad: Geico: I saved 15% on my Car Insurance. Call 1-800-U-SAVE-15 You don't have to pay the cost associated with creating the Magnetic Ad because you will advise the company that this belongs to them and you can get them in touch with someone who created reusable magnets. So your basically managing two sides: 1. Company's that want to advertise 2. People in your neighborhood (to start) who will put the ads on their car. Bigger cars can have more than one ad. Happy Money Making!
