Because of technology, Arts and Entertainment can now be part of home-based business. Food, on the other hand, remains to be among the most lucrative ideas. For people who love to take care of others, they may also start having their home business.

Four of home businesses that you can start at home are as follows:

1. Organic food. There are two ways to earn from organic food. First, if you have arable land, you can grow your own organic farm. The Small Business Association and local chamber of commerce can help you with the start up.

Organic food earns more recognition as health scientists associate synthetic chemicals used in fertilizers, herbicide, and pesticide to various serious diseases. In addition, North Americans have grown weary that their foods are not prepared locally.

When you grow your own organic food, you can supply your produce to markets, grocery stores and farmer's market. The second method of earning from this nutritious business is to have delivery service.

You can still be a supplier of organic food to restaurants, hotels and grocery stores by having a business agreement with organic food growers or direct source. You may need a van to mobilize your home business.

2. Nutrition Consulting. Being a nutritionist or dietician requires rigid training and education. After its completion, you have to work on your certification because you can practice your profession even as a home-based business.

Now, there is another way to earn without the need for certification. The Alternative Health practice is becoming popular among North Americans. In 2008, 10 million Americans consulted an alternative health practitioner for weight loss problem, eating disorders and healthy lifestyle.

Though having a certification may not be a requirement for alternative health practice, you may still need to secure the legal requirements for setting up a nutrition consulting home business.

3. Home Care Services. Many baby boomers, senior citizens and physically infirmed prefer to be cared for in a home-like atmosphere. There are two types of home care service that you can offer-the medical and non-medical.

The non-medical does not require medical certificates and related education although it may require that you know the standard operating procedure in providing care to patients.

The services that you can offer your clients include personal care, assistance with daily living activities, meal preparation, transportation, housekeeping and companionship. You can have a home care agency at your area, or you can render home service to these patients.

4. Online Video Production. Making video production is truly profitable, and you can make it a home-based business. Your services may include providing a studio room for production, video editing and recording. You can also record videos on-site.

There is a huge market for online video production. There are corporations and other private companies that may need to make videos for marketing campaign, or record corporate events.

Amateurs movie makers are also many. Most of them do not have their own video production company yet, and may use your services to come up with a good movie. Also, the professionals in the industry are always on the look out for potential video producers. Who knows, they may also choose your own production company.
