Home-based Business Opportunity: Clean Burning Candles
Any candles are easy to find in a store or anywhere else. But to find a candle that burns clearly is extraordinary. In the past, candles are traditionally prepared using paraffin wax.
The prices for such candles were relatively high as very few home-based business owners chose this as their niche. But as years passed, many people find this a lucrative business and so the supply became high. Variations in price also developed.
But, paraffin wax is not natural. When made into candles and burned, they produce black soot, carbon dioxide compounds which aggravate the earth's temperature. Moreover, the emission from paraffin-based candles has 11 toxins including benzene, mercury and lead.
These toxins are harmful to your health, according to American Lung Association, burning paraffin candles is tantamount to inhaling second-hand smoke. What they recommend? Candles that burn clean.
People who engaged in home-based business making candles will earn more with natural candles because of their extraordinary characteristics. Natural candles are made from wax naturally derived or produced.
Two waxes that make a significant difference to your health and the environment are soy wax and beeswax. Soy wax is prepared from soybean through hydrogenation. Beeswax is excreted laboriously, but industriously by female worker honeybees from their lower abdomen.
In order to have just one pound of their valuable wax, bees need to produce 8 and half pounds of honey. To have just a pound of honey, these bees need to visit and suck nectar from at least 2 million flowers.
When made into candles, these two waxes give off white soot, in contrast to black soot from paraffin wax when burned. Thus, they are prescribed by the ALA as among the ideal candles.
Another advantage of clean burning candles is their slower rate of burning. Not only do they burn clean; but they burn slowly. In comparison to paraffin candles, soy candles burn 50% longer. Beeswax candles burn for an hour just from an inch of its diameter.
So they are economical to use, despite their "little expensive" price for raw wax. Paraffin wax burns fast, requiring you to consume more candles. But with clean burning candles, one small soy candle or beeswax candle have several hours of illumination.
Beeswax candles have a natural aroma from its creation, honey and a mixture of fragrance from different flowers that bees have sucked nectars from. But this does not make them unfit for other fragrances.
It is just that many people love the smell of natural honey. On top of that, beeswax can make candles without heating or melting. Beeswax sheets make lovely and attractive taper candles, making your home-based business cost-efficient.
Marketing your clean burning candles is not difficult especially when they know the natural ingredient of its wax. Many people today have increased awareness on what harms their health, and what deters the already feverish planet earth.
Hosting parties, collaborating with other business owners during their product launching parties are unique and doable marketing strategy for your home-based business. You can also join associations and their activities as they campaign for green earth.
