Many are able to enjoy life more as they get involved in home-based business. Not only do they have more income, but they also have more time to spend with their family. The level of their stress is reduced. Moreover, with home business, they can do things they normally could not do when they were still employed.

There are hundreds of business opportunities that you can engage in. Each opportunity has its own risks and profit margins. All businesses require the desire for it. Skills and pre-knowledge are helpful. However, in order to be successful, your business choice should be a favorite hobby or interest; and not because it is the trend.

Below are some of the home-based business opportunities that you can start for 2010.

1. Herb garden. Herbs are becoming more popular, and their value is given more weight at the advent of alternative medicine and organic products. Herbs are used as food condiments, product ingredients and medicines.

The markets for herbs are varied. There are the restaurants and hotels which use herbs in preparing and cooking foods. Even the cruise ships and high-end resorts need herbs. Pharmaceutical companies recognize the benefits of herbs in treatment of various sicknesses.

Manufacturers of cosmetic products like beauty soap, lotion, oil and moisturizers use herbs as part of their ingredients. There are even specialized organic products from herbs.

2. Flower garden. As summer approaches, flowers become more in demand. They become part of everyday commodities bought at the stores or market. Besides occasions such as anniversary, wedding, birthday, and thanksgiving, flowers are bought to cheer up someone’s mood, to express emotions and to make people feel they are remembered.

The markets for flowers are many. The biggest are the flower shops and florists, especially those that cater to international clients. Small time flower shops are also in constant demand of flowers everyday.

3. Language translation. As communication across the continents is bridged through technology, jobs are created in order to enjoy the benefits of communications. There are established and wide markets for foreign language translations.

It does not require you to go to the office in order to start translations. Most translations services are considered a home-based business. Individuals who are fluent in two or more languages can start translation jobs.

Translations are needed for audio, video and text files from the original language into another. Most of these files are varied in nature. Nevertheless, the most popular are technical, medical, legal and literary.

4. Tutorial. If you have a skill whether technical, mechanical, musical, vocational or academic, you can start your own home-based business. Your capital shall be your talent. If you are good at playing musical instruments, you can teach students on how to play such instruments.

If you can teach academic subjects, you can start tutorial classes to students who need more attention in lessons in Math, Science and History. Other skills you can make profits from are computer and electrical skills. You can even offer home services despite making it a home-based business.

PADI: The Business of Diving Book Okay, so this book won't be of use to anyone who doesn't want to start a scuba store, but I did, and this book was of course invaluable to me in reaching that goal.
Franchising & Licensing Can Be The Same Thing - FTC Rule 436 defines franchising as anyone offering an Agreement that contains these 3 things: 1. Licensing a "Mark" - which can be a trade name, service mark, commercial symbol, slogan, etc. 2. In the body of the Agreement, there contains, significant controls and assistance. 3. The licensee is paying the licensor in excess of $500 within the first six months of the actual offering of the business. Licensing and Franchising can mean the same thing today. If you do not decide to franchise and comply with FTC Rule 436, you may be in violation of Business Opportunity Laws that exist in 24 individual States.
Franchising 'where to advertise?' - Great Forum. It took me a while to find you, but well worth the efforts... I'm launching a Business Opportunity and I have a few questions that I'm pondering. Mainly where to advertise and what online directories to target. directoryfranchise.com looks good, but I have no idea if they're worth the cost. They want 99.00-199.00 to list my site at up to 40 different listing sites. franchisegator.com and franchiseopportunities.com look solid... any suggestions? I'm currently devoting a significant amount of my time writing articles and plan to submit to the article directories. I'm already seeing good results from the few articles that I have released. My site is up and I have most of the puzzle pieces in place. Any comments on the site, and suggestions are welcomed. Thanks in advance.
