Home-based Business: Pet photography

Professional pet photography makes a rewarding home-based business for you and your clients. Pet owners are very enthusiastic about having their pets photographed by professionals. Most of them do not mind the fees they spend on their beloved pets.

There are many services you can offer for your home business. A home studio will be ideal so your clients can have options on the background. Another way to offer your services is by doing it on mobile.

Mobile photography allows you to take photos of animals from the house of the pet owners or from anywhere they wish to have photo shots of their pets. You can also take pictures from pet shops, pet clinics and pet care service centers.

Like the other home-based business, pet photography can be done full time or part time. Whether you wish to set up a home studio or mobile pet photography, it is best to register your business at the local Secretary of State office.

There are zoning laws that underline setting up a home business. You need to know which requirements you need to comply so you can set up you business at home legally. Also, when you register your business, you will have a legitimate business name which can be used in all your marketing strategies.

Acquiring your equipment is important. You can choose a professional Digital Single Lens Refractory or DSLR camera and few lenses. Or you can also buy a digital camera with fixed lens but equipped with several zooms and high pixels.

For your lighting system, you may purchase few portable lighting kits both for your home studio and for outdoor photo op. The common lighting systems include the umbrella, florescent photography lights, tri-lights, and shooting light tents.

The home studio may have ample space to accommodate pets and their respective owners. The studio may not be super large, but only enough space where animals and people can breathe.

To make your pet photography home-based business fun, exciting and unique, offer extra services like pet clothing or costumes, pet accessories, and themed backdrops. For additional fees, you may also offer video recording with music, special effects and titles.

You can also come up with assortment of products related to your home business niche such as transferring the photos of their pets onto key chains, greeting cards, post cards, calendars, mugs, hats, t-shirts, bumper stickers and sports bags.

In order to get the word out into your community, you may work on your portfolio. Offer free services and take pictures of your pets, the pets of your neighbors, family, friends and even workmates.

Print a life size photo poster and display them on your studio so your clients may have idea on the wonders that you could make for their pets. Referrals from your friends whose pets you have taken photos of will help.

Also, you have to invest in a business printer, computer set, photoshop software and glossy paper designed for photo printing. Trade shows, pet shows and pet shops are among the places where you can have potential and regular income from your pet photography home-based business.

Finance and the Disabiled Entrepreneurs Advice Needed Finance and the Disabiled Entrepreneurs Advice Needed - Need advice from someone who has been in my situation before. One thing is, we have been financing my adventure. It is not cheep and in this group you all understand this!! Not only did I start up my business of photography, but got into land as well. I got into land for the opportunity was there and I took it! Now just yesterday I was asked if I wanted another 40 acres on top of the 20 acres.... this I feel can wait? My thought pattern has been and still is to prove to the finance establishments that I produce what people want. I make it myself, that is my photography. I also want to prove to these establishments that I am worth investing in. Now comes the part that I am just not sure of and need advice on. I called the government and had a very lengthy conversation about the disability program I am on. What can or cant I do on the program, if it is a program that I can get kicked off of etc.. My goal is to make, in profits over what I get in disability. I am working very hard at this. This goal of mine is to prove to myself that I can do it no matter what program I am on. The government claims I can make whatever I can. I can own whatever. I am disabled, will always be disabled and the federal disability judge has determined this. BUT the state has already slapped my hands for trying and I do not get their help. I do not understand the states stance on this. To be totally self sufficient I need help. I try very hard to overcome my health problems, but health is health. Now will the financial establishments see me being disabled a bad thing? I have never been into grants, but maybe that is a route to go? What do you think?
