Home-based Business: Why Should You Have A Business Plan?

According to a few, not all home-based businesses need a business plan. For them, you would only need it when you ask for a business loan. While it is true that a formal business plan is required if you plan to borrow money for startup capital or expansion, but there are far more advantages in having a business plan even without getting a loan.

True, if you wish to be approved of a business loan, you need to come up with an impressive, yet realistic business plan. A business plan is a formal statement of your business goals. It contains the reasons why your home business is feasible.

The marketing strategies and other methodologies in realizing your business goals must also be expressed with clarity on such plan. In short, it serves as your directions in running your business.

The banks and other lending institutions are curious to know how you could earn with your home-based business and repay them of the borrowed money. On the other hand, if your financial resources are satisfactory for your business, writing an informal business plan is still beneficial.

Business plans are a business owners' best friend. They turn to it for guidance because it contains your mission, philosophy, goals, and marketing plans. If you have risk management systems, budget allocations, and backup marketing plans, they should all be specified on your business plan.

Budget is very important, and so are its allocations and executions. You will need a projected estimate to open up your home business, operate it until such time as you reach the break even point.

The competition is tough in almost all industries. In order to stand out among your competitors, it is best to plan out how you will make yourself unique. You have to give reasons why your clients should choose you, and the manners for conveying such reasons must be carefully planned.

Hence, if your niche is acupuncture, you need to let them know why you are the best acupuncturist in your neighborhood and locality. By this, determining your strengths and weaknesses, knowing your inner motivations, and understanding your fears will make you a better acupuncture practitioner.

Another advantage of writing business plans is identifying your target market. Identify the type of people who are most likely to be interested in your home-base business, and people who will benefit from your acupuncture the most.

To identify them, you need to use approaches. You have to know where to find them. Once you have found them, you need to communicate with them and advertise to them your home business.

Then planning for expanding your clientele is significant for your acupuncture business to grow. The fees that you charge to your clients need planning as well. Consider the services you offer and the charges provided by your competitors.

A business plan is important because it lists down all of your home-based business needs and the solutions to meet such needs. Besides setting up your acupuncture clinic, you may need to invest in your needles, the beds, room partition and advertising techniques.

Business Innovation Business Innovation - Hi Simon If you can finish off the Business Plan and think about your strategic direction or how you are going to use your product to convince people it's a great idea, it will set the foundation for your programming project. You see, when you are looking for funding you will need a Business Plan and Strategic Plan that will convince companies to invest into your new idea. Has anyone achieved this idea before using another industry besides health and fitness that you know of? You should also design some mockups as a "preview" for your programming project. This will also help reduce your programming costs as everyone will know exactly what you want if you have detailed mockups already completed including any functionality you require. Starting mockups for websites and software applications on paper is the best way if you're not a guru in graphic editing software.

Re: NEW VIDEO - How to improve your business plan - Ask Evan Re: NEW VIDEO - How to improve your business plan - Ask Evan - Thanks Evan, great intro into how the VC's see business plan. I will take a look, but hope that this video as number 1 in a series. It is unfortunate that these types of errors, the most basic of errors as you point out here are common to too many business plans, having reviewed a few hundred myself from both a development and funding perspective. As a mentor and workshop facilitator for Business Plan development for a number of start-up IT and multimedia companies, your presentation help support and show how the VC's see and evaluate a plan Shameful, that too many don't take the time to learn how to properly prepare, present and defend their plans. Over the years, I have enjoyed Business Plan competitions, and help re-work some of the winning proposals
