How To Find The Ideal Home-based Business For You

Besides cultivating the right attitude in running a home-based business, it is best to devise a strategy that can help you find the right home business and eventually groom it to success.

The internet is a good source to find a good home business. However, it also hosts thousands of scams that will rip you of your hard earned fortune. Before you decide which niche is ideal for you, it is best to know how to spot a scam business offer.

Beware of business offers that promise huge profits for less work. True, there are many home-based businesses that flourish and these allow business owners to earn a good sum. However, this is due to the execution of a good business plan. You have to be practical, can you just sit and relax and watch money to start rolling in?

Most successful entrepreneurs recommend 5 steps to find the suitable business for you. Begin by knowing what you would like to achieve. It is best to write down your goals, including those that are business in nature.

Know the purpose for putting up a business of your own. Do you want to have additional income or do you want to quit your job and run your home-based business full time?

Others feel that they would like to help people earn income, while few believe they can get fulfillment from business success. The point is, you need to have a direction for your business. By having goals, you would know the method to use for their realization.

Now, evaluate your interests. Determine your areas of strength, skills and knowledge. If possible consider your hobbies and other sources of enthusiasm. However, it is also a manifestation of good spirit and determination if you pursue a home business despite not being an expert at it.

Everything can be learned, be it knowledge, mechanics, and skills so long that you have an interest in such field. If you choose to make your hobby to the next level, i.e. doing business about it, you may do well doing a thorough research on it.

Doing your hobby is not similar to running a business even if the business is about your hobby. The internet can be a good source of information on the basics of starting up a business, choosing the niche and promoting your home-based business. Part of your research is to know whether there is a potential market for your product or services, and how tough the competition is in case you join the industry. You can also join a business club, contact the local chamber of commerce for assistance on your entrepreneurship.

Of course, in choosing the right home-based business for you, you do not select only one. You may have 10 or 5 or 3 to choose from. To decide which one is best for you, may list down the advantages and disadvantages of each home business idea.

For that, you may need to create a business plan, and feasibility study. The business idea that has the most benefits with fewer risks and drawbacks and has your interests shall work well for you.

Re: Fashion Re: Fashion - Nana, At you choice you may choose to research the fashion industry a bit more. There is obviously a Business side to it as well as a creative side to it. Find out all the types of roles that exist in the industry. Some that come to mind merchandiser, Window dresser, floor plan organizer (someone needs to determine the layout of a retail store to best sell the goods), fashion consultant (Yorkdale mall has fashion consultants that take you around and tell you what looks great on you - you also get a cut from the sales). This is what I've observed from the business side, you may know more. All these roles I've written about will help you grow as a business person and make the contacts in the industry...possible stepping stones. But further more you'll also notice that you need to develop some business acumen possibly tailored to the fashion industry. When I was at Ryerson I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur someday too. I knew I needed some basic business courses to get a foundation to build from. I was in a Tech/Business Major (I'm sure Fashion has something similar - Fashion/Business Major) and then started to create my own minor. Here are some of the courses I took: Marketing, Law, Entrepreneurial, Management, consulting.. and a few more . Also, I'm sure that within the Fashion Major there are also courses you have to take where you can use your creative side and create designs. Typically within a Major there are focuses you can choose - ask the program coordinator. Your next step is to do some research. 1. Visit Commercial retail outlets like H&M, Banana Republic, or jacob. Tell the Manager your doing some research for University and would like to know what types of Corporate roles exist aside from the roles on the retail floor (like sales associates). If she asks you to elaborate then you can use some of the roles I mentioned above. 2. With this information in hand you can visit the Ryerson Fashion department and inquire with the Program Coordinator on what focus within the Fashion Degree would help you the most. In my program there were 5 different focuses within the Tech/Business program. Just a quick aside. A good friend of mine too has a dream of fashion. he want to create a niche fashion line tailored to skinny men (I can't mention the style). He's in Business school but not in the Fashion program... He's in International Business but all his Minor courses are tailored to running a successful business ... similar to the ones I mentioned above for myself. I have no doubt in my mind he'll make it 'cos his vision is that strong.
Exclusive: Interview with Results Exclusive: Interview with Results - Hi Forum Members, I'm helping start up a Business Coaching and Consulting company here in Toronto, Ontario, Canada (a Subsidiary of RSC Business in Los Angeles). As a Research and Development Intern I am required to practice my listening and interview skills by surveying Small and Medium Businesses on thier Business. This Survey is designed by RSC Business to also assist the Business being interviewed more insight into their own business. I am looking to interview about 30 businesses across North America over the span of 3 months. At the end of these interviews I will be publishing a report of the results and they will be made available for free to the Interviewees. The Report data will include responses from a minimum of 100 interviews. I would like to extend this opportunity to members of the Forum. If you would like to have this short 20-30 minute interview conducted on your Business and you reside in North America please send me an email or PM. Please contact me at andy[at]jvprosperity[dot]com to arrange our interview and to get free access to the results when they are published.
