How to use E-mail Marketing as part of your Online Marketing Strategies

Any website owners and online businessmen take advantage of the potential of e-mail marketing as part of their online marketing strategies. It is an effective medium to boost their profits, when used properly.

There are many ways to use e-mail marketing. For example, an information site sends out news via e-mail marketing that a new content has been added. Some e-commerce sites may also use this method to remind customers of their carts or to send follow-up e-mail to their customers.

Even a political and non-profit organization can benefit from it to send information about projects and events. As an online marketing strategy, e-mail marketing is used to advertise a certain product, service or brand. It is also used to improve the relationship between a business and his customers, or to gain new clients.

To be successful with this online marketing strategy, e-mail marketing must be planned carefully in making the most of its benefits. There are many approaches in achieving such goal, however, the best five are the following:

1. Enliven your e-mail template with images and graphics. Most people receive e-mails from friends, colleagues and family in plain text. By adding a stationery or a colored image in high quality, you are making your campaign attractive.

With your graphics, you are conveying an accurate image to your potential customers. It can also provoke their interests.

2. Customize your e-mail with the customer’s name. One effective approach in online marketing strategies is to add a personal touch to your customers. This makes them feel special.

Compared to the generic greeting “Dear Valued Customer”, addressing the customer with his name such as “Dear Miss Michelle Franca”, appears to be specifically created for that person. The former addresses the general consuming public.

3. Use the e-mail marketing at the right time.As a business domain owner, you implement several online marketing strategies, each one having its appropriate time of usage. To increase your profits, use e-mail marketing at the right time.

Avoid sending e-mails to people at the wrong time such as end of the academic year and schedule for tax payment. Depending on each individual, some people may be interested in your product or service when there is an occasion or holiday while others are just annoyed. So planning and timing are crucial. 4. Send e-mails with appropriate intervals. Set a system in sending e-mails—primary and follow-up—to your customers. You do not want to lose their interests because they are annoyed with your excessive e-mails.

For example, e-mail marketing is very effective online marketing strategy to boost sales particularly when there is an occasion such as upcoming sale event or a holiday.

You can send your first e-mail one month ahead. Then another e-mail is sent after two weeks to remind them. Still another e-mail is necessary after a week to make a follow up. You can also allow your customers to subscribe to your updates.

5. Create a friendly interface for your subscribers to update their e-mail address or to unsubscribe. It is common among people to change their e-mail address. As your online marketing strategy, make your e-mail marketing easy for people to notify you of changes in their e-mail address and to opt-out of subscription.
