He will also be a word processor, or may be engaged in entering streams of information into various programs whether existing or being built. Data entry clerks are professionals who handle the actual entry of data into the database.

Mostly, clerks who do data entry work at home have at least complete their high school education. Anybody can be a clerk because it does not require college diploma, which makes this viable even to students who wish to earn income. Mothers and part-times are also benefiting from this clerical work.

To do this clerical work, you need to have good typing skills. The speed should be proportional to the numbers we have on the English alphabet. Your word accuracy should also be impressive. Since most of the tasks involve data entry, you need to have a good ability to enter the data quickly.

Many employers would require applicants to take the test to determine the speed that a prospect clerk can enter the data using the keyboard. Relative to the templates and programs, where the data shall be entered, the entry speed required varies. If you have demonstrated well your good speed, you may have higher chances of having data entry work at home.

Besides the typing skills, you should also possess skills in several office and data programs, English communication skills such as the grammar, correct spelling of words and punctuation. Individuals who work exclusively in data entry are quick typist. They have the ability to read off longhand or typewritten documents.

If your tasks require programming, accuracy is very crucial because the wrong letter, symbol or number can throw off an entire command or function of a program. If you will be working on spreadsheets or documents that need to be published or printed, the typographical errors can be very embarrassing on your part.

Data entry work at home needs concentration. Whether you work full time or part time, you will be spending few or several hours facing the monitor and typing on the keyboard. It is therefore important that you stretch out your legs and forearms once in awhile to relax your muscles and to allow the blood flow.

In fact, many experts recommend that you should take a break at least once for every hour that you spend on the computer, and do some exercises on your fingers. This will prevent you from contracting injuries such as the carpal tunnel syndrome.

For example, the Home & Garden Industry is extremely behind the time in regards to their websites. I attended an Home & Garden Expo in Denver and collected all the companies contact information. I plan on cold calling & mailing information to each business. It also gave me time to research the industry more, talk directly to the owners in many cases, and learn more about what they need. Jeff
