Can You Become A Successful Entrepreneur?

There is something, almost seductive, about the word "entrepreneur". You dream of becoming one. The fact is anyone can. You can open a booth at the swap meet, spend your inheritance on an expensive franchise, start a home based online marketing business and *poof*, you are an entrepreneur.

The focus here though, is on the "successful" part. Do you have the necessary mindset to be a successful entrepreneur? Your mindset has been developed through the years based on what you have learned and what you have experienced. What you think is what you say, what you say is what you do, and what you do determines who you are. Your mindset has gotten you where you are today. Are you satisfied with where you are today personally and professionally? If you wish to become a successful entrepreneur and live the lifestyle of your dreams you need to come to terms with this. Are you open to and capable of changing your mindset? If so you will need to surround yourself with other successful entrepreneurs and begin reading personal growth books. With the proper mindset you will succeed.

Another skill set you will need is self discipline. For years you have been told when you need to be at your J.O.B., when you can take a break and when to leave. To be a successful entrepreneur you will need to do whatever it takes to make your business successful. I have a home based business. No one is telling me when I need to put in time to build my business and that is nice. I have the ability to leverage my time to do what I want when I want. If my grandchildren visit, I can stop what I am doing and play with them. When the Angels were in the playoffs I was able to stop and watch the games. But I also know that if I do not make up that time my business will not grow. Surfing the web, talking to neighbors, taking extended lunches are not income producing activities. Stay focused!

You will also need to be passionate about your business. What is it that motivates you (your "why") to be successful, achieve your goals and fire up your passion? For me, it has been reaching for the lifestyle of my dreams and being able to coach others to accomplish the same.

Despite being written up in the Toronto Sun, Metro News, Entrepreneur Start Ups Magazine and listed as a resource in Entrepreneur Magazine people in Toronto still don't know about us. Any ideas on what I can do to get people talking? Preferable ones that don't have a large price tag attached? Any ideas would be appreciated. Our URL is included in my signature.
