Do You Have Job Security?
The question of the day is "Do you have job security?" Unless you are an entrepreneur the answer is no. What previously had been considered secure jobs, now even teachers are being laid off; firefighters are having their hours cut. Entrepreneurs of brick and mortar businesses are not completely safe either. There is not a one of us that can not be replaced. In this economy, your boss is probably as worried about his/her job as you are about yours; staying awake at night thinking of ways to save money and make him or herself look better. Who do you think is leaving first? I know because last year, as a restaurant general manager I cut out 35% of the hourly shifts in a four month period of time and then earlier this year I got the proverbial pink slip.
National unemployment remains around 10%, add 2% in California where I live. The result is a larger labor pool fighting for many fewer jobs. What would you do if you lost your job? And while we are at it, how much do you really like your present J.O.B.? I know for me, it was just easier to keep doing what I had always done; working long and crazy hours and living paycheck to paycheck rather than making a positive change.
In my case, that pink slip turned out to be one of the best things that ever happened to me. When forced to make a change, I realized I really was not happy in this industry any longer and it certainly was not creating the wealth I craved. I was forced to think outside the box. What was a baby boomer with a high school diploma and 30+ years in the restaurant industry going to do for the rest of my career? Going online to begin my search, I became intrigued by all the postings for "work from home business opportunities".
There are tons of opportunities out there. If you choose to avail yourself of this viable alternative to the traditional brick and mortar business be careful. Be sure to do your due diligence. I got lucky early on and was introduced to an incredible home based online marketing system. I no longer have to wake up once a week at 4AM to take inventory, fight traffic or deal with 70 employees. I now am on my way to living the lifestyle of my dreams and having the time to share it with my family and friends and coaching others to do the same.
