Southern California A Mecca for Sports Fans

Written by: Kevin Bury

Article Overview: Year round So Cal has some of the most exciting teams anywhere. Depending on your profession, it may not be possible to catch as many games as you would like. With my legitimate online business, this is no longer a source of irritation for me.

Southern California A Mecca for Sports Fans

Living in Southern California equates to year round excitement for sports fan(atic)s. I have been a Lakers fan since Baylor and West were playing in the early 60s, an Angels fan since the mid 60s with Fregosi and Chance, and now, since the NFL has deemed it unnecessary to have a team in Los Angeles, a Charger fan the past few years. These are the teams I follow and support, but we also have Dodgers, Ducks, Kings, Galaxy, USC, UCLA and numerous others.

Nowadays, if I am not doing something with my family and friends, there is nothing I enjoy more than watching or attending one of these events.

I was in restaurant management for years and missed a number of games I really wanted to see due to my wild and crazy hours. It was a real drag missing some key matchups, Lakers/Celtics, Kobe/LeBron, Angels/Red Sox, Angels/Yankees, Chargers/Broncos. It got even worse down the stretch and into the post season. It just was not right getting off work and listening to the 4th quarter of the Lakers Champonship series in my truck on the drive home. I want to see the games!

This is no longer a problem for me, I now have a legitimate online business from home. If there is a day game, I can start a bit earlier and/or work a bit later and catch the whole game live! I am my own boss in control of my own destiny. I can now leverage my time and I am loving every minute of it. I will never again have to miss a game I want to see.

If you, too, are a huge sports fan and want to catch all your teams games, be they day, night or weekend and want the freedom and flexibility I have, check out my videos on YouTube.

Apologizing for my absence, and an update... Apologizing for my absence, and an update... - Hey everyone, I just wanted to apologize for not being around here in a while. This has been a crazy summer, especially the past month. I've been doing a lot of different things offline in addition to vacationing a LOT, and it has severely limited my time online. I've neglected all of my websites/blogs and haven't been to forums nearly as often. Plus, I have a pile of emails to catch up on. I really want to apologize to those of you who have private messaged me asking for help and other things (you know who you are). It's not like me to not get back to those who contact me, but I've simply not had a chance lately. Anyway, I am leaving again tomorrow for a 2 week vacation in Las Vegas then Southern California. When I return things should start getting back to normal. Until then please bear with me. Talk to you later. Trent Brownrigg
Re: Just Joined Today! Re: Just Joined Today! - Hi David and GT! I know you both from my time with the PIPS & PPG forums. I am making an effort to expand the forums I attend as I want to benefit from as much wisdom that is shared in these places as possible. It was in the PPG forum that I first found out about Evan Carmichael and I promptly made my way over here to sign up and see what else I could discover. As for more about myself (since David is sooooooooo inquiring!), I do have a fulltime job in the television industry, working primarily in the Southern California region. I took up Internet marketing to help offset some recent expenses - my daughter had a Cinderella wedding 4 months ago! Along with her college expenses, I just thought there had to be another way to add to my income so I turned to the Internet. I started with SFI, then discovered PIPS, and that's where I am today. I look forward to having more questions and discussions with the fine people I've encountered!
Re: Discover 5 Traps of Internet Marketing that Derail Business Re: Discover 5 Traps of Internet Marketing that Derail Business - [quote="Donna":gj06obvi] I started working as a full time freelancer a couple of years ago and I have noticed that so many people think there is instant money to be made online. Donna[/quote:gj06obvi] This is true. Many years ago when I first started my SF webzine, my only ad partner at the time was Amazon.com. I confidently expected to get dozens of orders a day, and be a millionaire within a year without ever having to do lift a finger - after my initial articles had been published to the web. Of course it didnt' turn out like that at all, and if I'd been dependent on that zine to make a living wage, I'd've had to quit right then and there. Even when I started with Google Ad Sense I was also expecting to make money quite quickly... and it took that three or four years to get to a decent level. (And, as I keep pointing out, had I started with my Sports Zine first, all this might have been so different, as the topic of sports is probably 300% more popular than science fiction...) On the other hand, by persevering, I got a lot of experience in my chosen field, and was ready to do some good stuff once it occurred to me to go on the Sports kick....

Re: Facebook Fan Pages Re: Facebook Fan Pages - Hi Terri, I haven't yet started a Fan Page of my own (it's on my to-do list), so I don't have any tips to share yet. What others have mentioned about giveaways is a good idea. I also think updating your page with useful content on a regular basis is a must to keep Fans interested and coming back. This can easily be done if you have a blog because they allow you to import RSS feeds on your page. Every time you make a new blog post, your Fan Page can be updated.
