What Is Your Why?

What is your why? No, this is not an updated version of the infamous "Who's On First"! Every successful entrepreneur or leader has a "Why", a list of the things success will allow him/her to accomplish. Earning massive cash might be a given but that is too general. What will be done with the money are the things that need to be listed.

What are the specific things that would motivate you to be successful? You need to brainstorm this and develop a list of at least ten items. Pay off your debt, take the family on a cruise, purchase a new house, buy that imported sports car you have always wanted might be things that you would want to list.

When you develop your list, you can white board it or print it and post it near your desk. You need to be able to visualize and feel everything on that list, be able to make it real. Is that new house a two story beach front home in La Jolla, California? Can you smell the leather of that new black Mercedes SL600?

As an entrepreneur, you no longer have a boss to motivate you. Every morning as you start your day, you need to review this list and visualize every item on it. This is your motivation.

Obviously this is not a list cast in stone. As you become successful and achieve the things on your list, it needs to be updated.

As the owner of a legitimate online marketing business, this is a ritual I must follow daily. Lately the weatherman has been helping me with one of my "whys", central air conditioning. We have had triple digit temperatures here the past couple of weeks!
