Setting yourself up for Success at Home

When you make that awesome decision that you are finally going to break free and work for yourself from home, you must make sure that you set yourself up for success.

You need to allocate yourself a space in your home that will be only for work. If you have an office, that's great, because you can shut the door at the end of the day. If you don't, you will have to set up a corner in your lounge or bedroom. You must make sure that there is enough light for you to work day or night. Make sure that you have a decent sized desk to work on, along with a comfortable chair. The desk should have some storage space, either on top or in the form of draws, and the chair should be one that supports your back properly.

You will obviously need a computer with a high speed internet connection. This is a must, in this day and age if you want to stay on top of things and be successful in your business. You should be able to adjust your chair so that you can see your computer screen at eyelevel, so that you don't strain your neck and back.

When you purchase your computer you will see that they are now a lot smaller than they used to be, so they don't take up as much space. The tower should fit neatly under your desk. Make sure that you have quite a lot of hard disk space to store your information, or if not a CD writer so that you can store on CD. The monitors today are flat screen, so they won't take up a lot of your workspace, which is great. Make sure to get yourself a high speed internet connection. Believe me this will save you lots of time and frustration in the long run. A lot of people nowadays prefer to work on laptops because they can take them everywhere. It all depends on you; the only problem with this is you then tend to take your work on holiday with you.

You will also need a filling cabinet to store your documents in an orderly fashion. It is a good idea to have an in and out box on your desk, and to empty these regularly and keep yourself organized. An organized desk creates space for an organized mind.

One of the most important things you will need is a diary. The ones that have a page a day are great and even better those that plan your day to the hour for you. This is a very important step to staying on top of things. Each afternoon before you leave your desk for the day you should review your day and write in your deadlines for the following day. Tick things off as they are done and you will feel a sense of achievement at the end of each day. Most successful people plan their days down to the last minute and are highly organized. Believe it or not this one works.

Of course you will also need a successful business to invest in. Make sure the business that you join up with trains you and supports you on your journey to financial freedom. Make sure that the company that you join up with is one that gels with your moral standards and ethics and one that you would be proud to tell your friends and family about when they ask you what you do for a living. They must of course also have the best commission structures in place, and have a product that is easy to market. Visit the website below to find out more about the awesome company I work with.

Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? - HI, I have used trade shows (not participated) to collect potential clients. For example, the Home & Garden Industry is extremely behind the time in regards to their websites. I attended an Home & Garden Expo in Denver and collected all the companies contact information. I plan on cold calling & mailing information to each business. It also gave me time to research the industry more, talk directly to the owners in many cases, and learn more about what they need. Jeff

EvanCarmichael.com suggestion EvanCarmichael.com suggestion - Maybe I missed it but I would like to suggest that a Blog be created to support the Forum. The idea is that in the blog you put in snippets of some of the biggest conversations with a 'read more' link to the forum itself. Setting up the Blog and clipping some conversations onto it wouldn't take very long.
