A Legitimate Work From Home Business Teaches Be, Do, Have

Be, do, have is an interesting philosophy that is really quite troubling for new entrepreneurs. I remember when I first started down the entrepreneurial path it was a very difficult concept to understand. It appears to be backwards. When a person first starts a business, they are excited but ultimately, in most cases, they are relatively clueless about what they are doing. Being an entrepreneur, in so many ways, is about leadership. Being a leader, in many ways, is about confidence, knowledge, and being someone others can aspire to be. When first starting a business, these are definitely things you don’t think that you have; to the extent of a leader anyway. A legitimate work from home business should teach you otherwise.

What this saying “be, do, have” says to me is that in order to be successful, in order to lead, we must first be. How can you be without actually being? How can you “be” successful without a line of success or a proven track record? That is the question. The answer is something I struggled with as well early on. My first business was a real estate investment company. I would market with direct mail, find people interested in selling their house, and make an appointment to go meet them. I would knock on the door, shake their hand, greet them with a friendly hello, and have no idea what to do next. I’m sure the first few visits were mostly awkward for us all. However, as time went on, each visit got easier and less awkward. Eventually, even before I had closed one deal, I fancied myself pretty good at it. The point is, being a leader is a mindset, not a result of action. Mindset is the very base of any business, of any accomplishment, and of any great thing ever done. If you get your mindset right, you will “be”. If you can be in a legitimate work from home business, you will be successful. (I say legitimate because so many of the businesses out there would be impossible to succeed in EVEN if you had the right mindset.)

Next, the “do” portion comes into play. Doing is easier once your mindset is in the right place. The mindset is what kept me knocking on those doors, so I could get to the “doing” phase. At that point, you are humming right along. You have the “be” (mindset), the “do” (action), and now there is only one thing left that can happen; that will happen. The “have”.

The “have” is a natural byproduct of the “be” and the “do”. If you get those two down, the have will naturally follow. The phrase is interesting because rational, logical thought says “Yes, but if I just HAD some results, or HAD some money, I could be a leader easily and do everything.” Unfortunately, we cannot do things out of order. This rational is, I believe, the single biggest decider between those who succeed in business and those who don’t. Don’t concentrate on how you wish it worked, or how you would like it to be. Concentrate on being what you want to be in the now, in the present. Obtain everything of that lifestyle you can and then do something about it. On the back end, you will achieve the have. That is the beauty of it. It is exactly that simple, and that hard. My name is Jeffrey Nelson and I truly understood this cycle when I joined a legitimate work from home business back by an online community of entrepreneurs
