Backlinking and Home Based or Online Business: 3 Things You *NEED* to KNOW!
Backlinking is a popular “buzz word” in home
based online business opportunity pitches. It is one of the most
effective SEO (Search Engine Optimization) strategies today. Search Engine
Optimization is the process of optimizing your page or website to be indexed
well by the search engines. Search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc all
use certain algorithms to attempt to pull up the most relevant content to match
what someone puts into the search bar. Understanding the way in which search
engines index content is the key to understanding how to make yours stand out!
If you operate, or want to operate a home based online business you will need
to understand backlinking. Online business can be taken to another level
through the use of proper SEO optimization as it creates unbelievable results
and is free dramatically increasing the already impressive ROI’s online.
Legitimate, simple, online home based businesses are profitable in large part
due to SEO and backlinking!
After understanding how SEO works and how the search engines
themselves work, we can discover how to utilize backlinking to optimize our own
websites. When a search engine “looks” at your website, it also looks at every
website you are connected to through links. While more is better in this
situation (the more links the better) you also have to consider the quality of
the links. A backlink that goes to a website with good content is indexed
better than a backlink that goes to a website with little or no fresh content.
The amount of content, the quality of the content, and the relevance of the
content are all considered when the search engines look at your backlinks.
Backlinking can be accomplished through a variety of ways.
One of the ways it is done is through software. People have built businesses
off of backlinking platforms. They will create a huge network of blogs and
content rich sites and use that network to apply relevant backlinks to
individual entrepreneur’s sites. These services generally cost quite a bit of
money, as they are very valuable and dramatically increase your results on the
search engines. A home based online business opportunity can dramatically
increase its margins through the use of proper backlinking.
If you don’t want to pay for a backlinking service, you can
do little things to make sure you are optimizing your website as much as
possible. Whenever you link to one of your websites, or other websites (through
blogs, forums, etc) make the link as relevant as possible. The actual text of
the link, or the “anchor text” as it’s called, needs to be keyword rich. If you
have a website about hamsters you want to have a set of keywords relevant to
hamsters. If you’re site is on “how to feed and care for hamsters” then when
you create a backlink you want the link to say “Learn how to feed and care for
hamsters here!” for example. This puts your main keywords into the anchor text
increasing the value of that backlink in the search engines eyes.
Backlinking can be a confusing process and it does take time
to create a network of solid backlinks to start improving the search engine
results of your websites. The backlinking process can be much more effecitve if
you utilize long-tailed keywords and proper backlinking optimization such as
putting the long-tailed keywords into your anchor text. Make that a goal and
you will soon start to see the results of free organic traffic to your website
24/7 with no extra work! It’s a beautiful thing.

B2C = Business to Consumer - You are marketing to consumers.
