How To Start A Home Based Business Online Using Self Mastery

Several key ingredients are needed to start a home based business online successfully. I have written a complete book on the topic (read the end of this article – preferably after reading the middle!) for information on how to get the rest of it (free!). The ingredient I would like to talk about in this edition is self mastery.

A home based business online is no different than any other business; it is a business. If you run something like a business, you will have a business. The problem with most would-be entrepreneurs looking to start a home based business online is that they don’t treat it like a real business. They are filled with these thoughts that they can just talk to their friends and family and be making $40,000/month in a couple of months with little to no effort. That, as one may assume, is inherently incorrect.  Now, if self mastery is employed, I believe anyone from any walk of life can succeed in this, or any other business. To start a home based business online has advantages over other businesses in several ways including, but not limited to, low capital investment, flexibility, and lower investment in time due to leverage (again, see my book!).

Self mastery is the topic for today. In any business endeavor, whether involving the start of a home based business online or a brick and mortar business, self mastery should be at the top of the list. Most people decide they need to learn the skills, make sales, and essentially ram their product or service down as many people’s throats as they can if they want to be successful!

I’m here to tell you, that is not the case. The most effectively branded businesses are those that involve self mastery. When you increase your value to society, you increase your value in business and you increase your success if you start a home based business online. That point is so important, I will repeat it: When you increase your value to society, you increase your value in business. That, in turn, increases profitability.

One can increase their value through self mastery by reading books, modeling leaders, and following systems to give them confidence. In order to master yourself, you need to make a switch inside yourself. You need to say “Ok self, from this point forward, I am a leader. I am confident, I am knowledgeable, and I have a lot to offer the world. Now it’s time to go out and start offering.” As juvenile or “touchy-feely” as this sounds, it is necessary. Until you know who you are, you cannot lead others or have tremendous and rewarding success. Until you master yourself, you cannot know who you are. Conversely, until you become a leader you cannot understand being a leader. You must become a leader today, and grow in your abilities to be a leader tomorrow going forward. It starts with a decision, and then becomes a lifelong journey always progressing towards your goal, but never achieving it.

If you ever feel you have arrived at the pinnacle, you are in trouble. Complacency kills. Let me leave you with a quote I like by a master marketer within our organization, a man who has cemented himself as a model of someone to follow, and has achieved success beyond most men’s wildest dreams: “The four most dangerous words in the English language are… “I already know this(that)”
