Want to Succeed In Legitimate Home Business Opportunities? You Need Leverage!

Written by: Jeffrey Nelson

Article Overview: Leverage is what makes legitimate home business opportunities so lucrative! It is what allows someone to do so much in so little time online. It is what gives us the freedom to travel, to create large business, and to run them with no overhead or employees at high profit margins monthly.

Want to Succeed In Legitimate Home Business Opportunities? You Need Leverage!

What is leverage? Traditionally, leverage is associated with risk (debt). In real estate, for example, you leverage properties by putting a mortgage on them. You can buy a $100,000 house with $10,000 down. In that situation, you have leveraged 90% of the house. However, when the house goes up in value, say 5% ($5,000) you make a 50% return on your original $10,000! That is the power of leverage. When talking about legitimate home business opportunities, however, leverage is slightly different.

As briefly mentioned earlier, leverage can be great; it can also be bad. Essentially leverage maximizes your returns (or losses). In legitimate home business opportunities, leverage becomes a different tool. Instead of leveraging money you leverage time. So many stories exist of people going from “no experience” to making $10,000, $20,000, $30,000+ online in a matter of months. The reason this can happen is because of exactly that: leverage. The ability to leverage time, leverage knowledge, leverage ideas, and leverage the entire population online makes for an incredible opportunity for someone who understands how to do it.

Leverage is a key component in success. It is, however, the main component in rapid success. Take for example MLM companies. Pitching your warm group, cold-calling leads, handing out fliers, and talking to everyone you meet about your business may work. You may, after some unknown amount of time, be able to create a little business. That’s great! However, that is the exact opposite of leverage. I heard a saying the other day that I thought was interesting involving leverage. A lady I know who does MLM said “I can guarantee you that 100% of the time I do nothing, I’m not getting any results!” While that is true in most cases it is precisely the difference between the 97% and the 3%. The 97% say “I need to work harder to get more results” while the 3% say “I need to find a way to work less and get more results.” The answer, is leverage. Leverage is one reason why legitimate home business opportunities can be so powerful.

Now I know what everyone is thinking “How do I use leverage to my advantage in a home business opportunity?” That’s what I thought as well when I first looked at getting into home business opportunities. However, truth be told, I understood leverage a little bit. So I went out and looked for a system I could use (leverage) and people who knew how to do it (leverage) so I could learn the best, fastest way to get the results I wanted. Systems create time leverage, mentors/coaches create knowledge leverage (shorten the learning curve tremendously) not to mention help keep motivation up; give a path. All of these things are vital in the early stages of being an entrepreneur.

Perhaps you are wondering “Couldn’t I just do it myself?” Sure. You most certainly can. However, what true entrepreneurs understand is that time is the most important asset we have. Leverage essentially creates more time. More time is more money. What kind of price can you put on time? In my opinion, time is the most valuable thing we have. Leverage increases the amount of time we have. That’s why, in my opinion, it is one of the most important concepts for new entrepreneurs to grasp.

Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? Re: Trade Shows - Are They Worth It? - HI, I have used trade shows (not participated) to collect potential clients. For example, the Home & Garden Industry is extremely behind the time in regards to their websites. I attended an Home & Garden Expo in Denver and collected all the companies contact information. I plan on cold calling & mailing information to each business. It also gave me time to research the industry more, talk directly to the owners in many cases, and learn more about what they need. Jeff
